Re: Parts I wish TLC made

(...) Amusingly, your custom switch tracks appear to have the exact same spacing as the ones that John posted at the beginning of this thread. He appears to have dealt with the fragility problem by bridging the split with a 4x6 plate. Granted, it's (...) (21 years ago, 6-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Lego Trains in larger gauge?

(...) Hi Horst, I have, inspired by John Neal of whom you've already heard. I've only built the one boxcar though, shown here; (URL) since bought a stick of track for it to sit on, and replaced the grey 1x8's with brown. It's also spent a good chunk (...)   Re: Lego Trains in larger gauge?

(...) Hello Horst, As John Gerlach mentioned, I have experimented with larger scales of trains. My first venture was the 14 wides, which I calculated to be about 1:29 scale. I used G scale trucks and track for them, but I only built a few and never (...) (21 years ago, 6-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts I wish TLC made

"John Barnes" <barnes@sensors.com> wrote in message news:HEDsv3.KnE@lugnet.com... (...) Looks great John, If I had one other item suggestion for Lego to make, it would be flexi-track. This would solve most our problems with the turn radius of Lego (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Lego Trains in larger gauge?

(...) John Neal has built a few 14-wide trains that he has mounted on G-scale trucks. You can find pictures here: (URL) seen 'em in person, they look lovely. JohnG, GMLTC (21 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Lego Trains in larger gauge?

Hello, has anyone ever tried to build a train that has a larger gauge than the usual L-scale (be it 6, 8, or even more studs wide)? Obviously, such trains could not run on LEGO track, nor use standard LEGO train motors and wheel sets ... Greetings (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: using a european 12v transformer in the UK

Posting this reply since I just noticed there was a post in addition to an e-mail reply. Reminder to folks, please don't both reply by post and by e-mail since it causes such double answering as this. (...) I purchased them (two). Check out this (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts I wish TLC made

From how I understand auctions and their acceptance here (based on recent converstations with Larry P) it would be permissible to post something like this here in lugnet.trains: "I just invented a cool switch, here are the pics, bla, bla, bla... I (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts I wish TLC made

(...) Wow, I didn't even notice that, cool. (...) I did post about it in market.auction, but the only people who contacted me about the track did so after the auction ended. I sort of wanted to get a base price for what people were willing to pay (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: RCX Train Sensor

(...) I solved the unreliable light sensor problem [1], although my version still sticks out two studs from the tracks on one side, and five out on the other. Also there's an extra wire, due to shining a light bulb at the sensor. But we just ran a (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts I wish TLC made

(...) I would also have bid, had I known about these. Unfortunately, I don't check market.auction very regularly. Would it have been permissible (TOS-wise) to say in .trains, "I just built these new custom switches. Also, I'll be auctioning them (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: RCX Train Sensor

(...) Yeah, I am after an all-Lego solution; not just for purity reasons, but I'd be too worried about frying the RCX with my less-than-impressive electornics skills. Besides, given that my whole layout seems to be elevated 18 bricks high, it's (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.trains)

  Re: RCX Train Sensor

(...) Thanks, Derek. Tell you what: I'll do the sensors, but I'll need you to do the roads ;) Jeff E (21 years ago, 3-May-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.trains)

  Re: 20,000 .trains posts

recap of our "Day Out with Thomas" display

Recap of our two weekends of "A Day Out with Thomas" at the Minnesota Transportation Museum's Jackson Street Roundhouse. ((URL) days, several thousand visitors, a LOT of them being kids. We had a pretty good time! The new town layout looks good (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts I wish TLC made

(...) *snip* (...) Hi Jeff - I remember your Nova switching yard site well. I have a bunch of O-scale Kadee couplers attached to LEGO plates based on your ideas from several years ago, and now I shudder because I showed them to John last weekend! (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Farm MOC.

(...) I do! Very nicely done. I look forward to seeing more from you. You put lots of nice details in this MOC without crowding. Selective compression done well. I gotta learn to do that :-) I like the focus on animals, scenery and activity. It adds (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.town, lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts I wish TLC made

Congrats on the 20,000th post to .trains! Wow, 20,000 posts! That's a lot of info. (...) I think it is OK to post such a link (to a closed auction) since it's for information use and you don't have a conventional site. In future if you do auction (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts I wish TLC made

(...) If I understand the concern above correctly, using the switches like this does not effect the usage of regular switches to make sidings and such if the switches that are modified are used together to make a true crossover. I hope it's ok to (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts I wish TLC made

(...) Whoops. Not being a Train collector, I didn't actually realize that these were customized parts. I had to track down images of the switching rails and curved rails so I could count the ties (there are 5 missing between the switching tracks on (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.trains)
