I had a plan, I wanted it to take up a certain space and have tunnel portals
at certain points. I laid the track down on the baseplates (one plate off
the baseplates, actually, using tiles and a few turntables in strategic
spots) and just started building GMLTC standard latticework. When I had the
latticework to the right height in an area, I sheathed it.
The sheathing was more or less random. I had a palette of bricks I drew
from, in that I had 6 little bins of 1x2, 1x3, 1x4, 2x2, 2x3 and 2x4. Each
bin had various earth tone colors in that size. As I sheathed, when I needed
a size I would just grab it. If it seemed to fit color wise, I would use it,
else draw again. Every so often I would replenish the bins. If i wanted an
area to be a bit more of a particular color, I replenished with more of that
color.
But there are too many colors in it. Like I said if I had to do it over
again I would have stuck to one base color (dark grey) with some black for
shadowing, and a little light grey for highlights... confine the green and
brown to more well thought out "dirt patches" and "grassy areas"... I did
get better at it as I went, perhaps you can tell which section was sheathed
first?
Thanks for the compliments, all...
