OK, after reading all of the postings to date and trying to formulize an
articulate response, I'll get down to the nitty gritty...
RichLug became a LUG because of an inspiration (Thanks Rich!). We are a
small club because we only have four core members to date (John, the fifth
link, moved to DC, & we are in a small metropolitan area). We met one
memorable day to form a LTC, not because we were "train heads" (Rich is
pretty well versed in train lingo) but because we wanted to collectively
build and display on a grand scale, at train shows, what we could not build
individually. The only problem I see with our LTC is that we don't have a
static display that we refine and continue to improve.
A well organized LTC has the venue, the time, the size, and the group edict
to build a spectacular display. When Lugnet members see postings of our next
display, take into count that there are (as of now) only four of us regular
LUG and LTC members. Rich, Greg, Tim and I are all dedicated RichLUG and
RichLTC members. Forming an LTC was the best way we could display and
expand our membership.
I am posting as an individual who is reflecting on my clubs history. Other
members may have a different perspective.
