Re: 8 Wide verses 6 Wide Super Chief Comparison

(...) *Less*? It may have shortcomings, but *comparatively* speaking, I'd say more in a NYM. (...) Yes, unfortunately, we 8 widers got shafted when it came to TLC curve production. The smallest half round fits into the next size, but there is a gap (...) (23 years ago, 2-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Two questions about My Own Train engine

(...) I've been making such an adaptation for the large engine, because I liked the side entrances to the cab of the 'without tender' design and wanted to have the tender at the same time. You will need the following bricks in your chosen colour (...) (23 years ago, 2-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: My Super Chiefs arrived (Yet Another Numbers Post)

Just after I posted, I called up and got the after hours (??) customer service desk. They wouldn't let me order 4, but they let me order 3, and they were looking at my customer record as I placed the order. We'll see if it sticks on Monday... I (...) (23 years ago, 2-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide verses 6 Wide Super Chief Comparison

(...) Less prototypical :-)... BEAUTIFUL, but less prototypical. While the way your tankage/skirting came out is just great, way way better than LDs, when I look at the rest of the engine I can't help but thinking it's too squarish. The nose (...) (23 years ago, 2-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Santa Fe Numbering

(...) I agree, but I'll go one step further and predict that there will not be (or rather there is not, since they're already been made) a #0000 OR a #10000 but that they will run from 0000 to 9999, making 9999 of more "value" than 0005 - at least (...) (23 years ago, 2-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: A study on a train front....

Your right, I have a few I bought for the kids that are different colors, but have printing on them. That's ok, a little Brasso and a coupla minutes and that is easily remedied.... (23 years ago, 2-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: A study on a train front....

(...) I belive only the set 1360 has the slope part with out print on it in yellow. (URL) checked through the cataloge to see what other colors could be done. There are alot of the new colors, but all the ones I saw have some kind of print on them. (...) (23 years ago, 2-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide verses 6 Wide Super Chief Comparison

Re: 8 Wide verses 6 Wide Super Chief Comparison

(...) I think your model is better from the front (the proportion seems more correct), but from the sides I think they are both more or less the same although yours is obviously larger again. The front windshield looks a little weak, I assume a (...) (23 years ago, 1-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

8 Wide verses 6 Wide Super Chief Comparison

Well, my 10020s arrived yesterday, and so I built one using a 9 volt motor, and kit-bashed the other 2 to modify my Super Chief MOC. Here are a few pics of the 2 together for comparison in my Super Chief folder: (URL) I noticed most is that when you (...) (23 years ago, 1-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Two questions about My Own Train engine

(...) You also end up using some of the coloured bricks around the bunker area, which would otherwise be required for the tender. They don't actually give you enough bricks to build the stand-alone engine and the tender at the same time. Jason J (...) (23 years ago, 1-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: A study on a train front....

(...) Excellent use - I had a feeling someone would find an imaginative use for these - hence (URL) one seems to have more potential uses than the related parts with "wings". Chris (23 years ago, 1-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad.dev)
