I've had some smallish (by that standards!) layouts. The biggest took up my
entire living room (not just trains, but cityscape too), as well as running
through my dining room and into the bedroom (and around under the bed).

-as of right now, none at all...SRC has most of my trains :). However, I have
a nice new basement with rain deflector (house) that I am moving to in ~1
month. I have ~800 (80 m2 roughly) sq ft to play with, give or take. Some of
that is going to be for tin mice (OO scale layout/workbenches), but a good
amount will be for Lego (the OO is going in a 24x9 room, probably with my Lego
building stuff too, because only one side will be "scenic", the OO will run
around the rest of the basement to give some distance for it to run)

hehehe...mine doesn't even exist on paper yet really. I expect to have 2
levels again, but am completely open so far as to what I am going to do other
than that (and how to get between the 2 levels...I have ideas about that
though)
Think about how you want to operate the trains. Do you want to set up 1-2 to
run, and then shunt (switch) another one or two? Are you going to remain pure
to the Lego electrics only? or are you open to model RR style electrics?
I'm thinking of DCC again, but not sure if I can afford the outlay.
Mind you, I haven't yet had real access to the space (we only bought the house
on Saturday!), and need to move ~7000km to get there anyway :)

| (...) Sounds like a fun layout! I really like the kind of tracks where the train _really_ travels some distance and you have to move to keep the train in view :-) Trains running from one room to another are big fun! :-) (...) I'm thinking of (...) (24 years ago, 25-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)
