I would really like to see the trackdesigner plan for this layout! I was
planning to build a big layout too (I have access to a attic 7 x 13m) and I
have been looking at various track plans model railroaders use but the size
of LEGO rails make such layouts very hard so I tend to stick to variations
of standard circles.
It made me wonder where most of the LEGO railroaders keep their layouts? Do
you have a big track somewhere in a basement or do you build a small track
and store it when you're not running the trains? To those who have a big
layout- what interesting features does it have (trackwise)?
I'm thinking to create a permanent layout that features two loops that have
a few streches near to eachother (at the station) one track goes down in a
valley like area while the other one has a few hight variations. Also one
would be specialised for freight (I have a design of a coal mine in mind)
and the other one for passenger traffic. With switches and signals it should
be possible to run at least four trains at the same time.
Currently it all just exists on paper tho :-/

| (...) -I'd like to see one too! I was (...) I've had some smallish (by that standards!) layouts. The biggest took up my entire living room (not just trains, but cityscape too), as well as running through my dining room and into the bedroom (and (...) (23 years ago, 25-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)

| (...) When you do get around to building it, Frank, I hope that you decide to build it modular. That way you could transport it to a show or to some event some day.
