  Re: 5003 and counting...

Number of posts in lugnet.trains. Although Robotics and Star Wars have more posts and now castle gets more posts than trains, we are still over 4% of the news traffic on lugnet. I think that the number of posts seems to be increasing rather quickly (...) (25 years ago, 15-Mar-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Lego Trains Record Track Length

Hi all, Just doing some leasurely reading on (URL) set in 1992 "A Guinness record in railway line construction is set - 545 metres of LEGO rails with three model locomotives." So is the 2000 feet layout still up for the challenge? Santosh (25 years ago, 15-Mar-00, to lugnet.trains)

  5003 and counting...

Isn't it amazing? we were at 4K only 2 months ago (well, the end of Jan)...now we are at 5K. (just making some interesting observations) James P (25 years ago, 15-Mar-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Chimney Mount of 396 Thatcher Perkins

(...) Aahh. Even with the traditional bricks and plates, there are always new tricks for me to learn. Thanks for pointing it out. Hao-yang Wang (25 years ago, 15-Mar-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Inside a 4548 Speed Regulator?

Has anyone ever opened up one of these, I'm not willing to risk one of my 2 but I know some of you have hundreds :-) Basically I want to know if my theory of a planned expansion port around the back of the controller is true - the moulding is way (...) (25 years ago, 15-Mar-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Chimney Mount of 396 Thatcher Perkins

(...) Right, if they used a 2x2 brick they would then need a 3x3 plate which doesn't exist. Thanks! /Eric McC/ (25 years ago, 15-Mar-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Chimney Mount of 396 Thatcher Perkins

(...) There is a 2x3 plate that fits on top of the 1x2 plate in the next step. The studs from the 1x2 fit into the 'holes' of the 2x3, so the 1x2 tile is needed, otherwise the smokestack wouldn't fit on it at all. JohnG, GMLTC (25 years ago, 15-Mar-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Chimney Mount of 396 Thatcher Perkins

(...) It sure looks that way! That's very amusing. I'd like to know the answer, too. /Eric McC/ (25 years ago, 15-Mar-00, to lugnet.trains)

Chimney Mount of 396 Thatcher Perkins

Look at (URL), step 17. Instead of simply using a 2x2 brick to mount the chimney, the designers went to a lot of trouble to insert a 1x2 tile there. Why? To make the chimney break off easily? Cheers, Hao-yang Wang (25 years ago, 15-Mar-00, to lugnet.trains)

  4564

I bought a 4564 on the internet with alot of extra track. The only problem is the 4564 is nowhere near compleet. The regular parts are not a big problem although the traincars became really colorfull. The biggest problem is the lift mechanism from (...) (25 years ago, 15-Mar-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: NGLTC wins over local NMRA assocation!

(...) NMRA (...) Ha! That would defiantly be a switch for sure. To get into the show I told them we'd fit into any space they gave us. They ended up giving me an area 6' x 20', so we ran a real long and narrow layout. At least for the next show (...) (25 years ago, 15-Mar-00, to lugnet.trains.org, lugnet.trains)

Re: What do you do with multiple Blue Hoppers?

(...) I don't think you will. There are no cool parts in the set (with exception of wooden tons maybe). But it's the cheapest way to get a lot of magnetic couplings, wheel sets, bogie plates, groundplates. So I have stuff for trading and building (...) (25 years ago, 15-Mar-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: What do you do with multiple Blue Hoppers?

(...) No, original prices in the shops have been 100 to 120 DM (50 to 60 $). I started to buy some copies, when the price was 80 DM. Then I had the chance to get 3 for 50 DM each. After that again some for 60 ..75 DM. Last week I got 3 for an (...) (25 years ago, 15-Mar-00, to lugnet.trains)
