Re: 9v train idea book: I might be making one, anyone interested?

(...) Go write a Mac version? I've occasionally written some code to render LDraw files, and if *I* can do it... Steve (25 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Spoked Train Wheels?

(...) Dear John Torsten has made the outer red rings (with a big flange) on a lathe from plastic material you can buy in any diameters (he used 50mm round material of red PVC). Only to fix these outer rings on the spoked wheels he uses O-rings: You (...) (25 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Do decals come off?

Decals that have had nothing sprayed on them should come off fine if you soak them long enough. They adhere with a water based adhesive. Solvaset basically softens the plastic enough to get it to conform to irregular surfaces, so you SHOULD still be (...) (25 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

New Picts, old model: Double Decker Passenger train

Nothing new about this German red double decker passenger train except for some new pictures. (URL) was able to borrow a digital camera and do better than laying the model on its side on a flatbed scanner finally. The double decker train is still in (...)   Re: 9v train idea book: I might be making one, anyone interested?

Oh sure, pick on the cripple kid.... I should make this perfectly clear; I have used MLCad with Virtual PC and it works. I have not used LDraw so I do not know if it works or not. Chris (...) (25 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Longest train...

(...) Added 4 more cars, and the whole thing keeps going to pot...I cannot get it to make a single trip around without the small (10L coal cars) from being dragged off the track. They are about 10 cars in, I might try moving some of the cars around, (...) (25 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Spoked Train Wheels?

(...) A few questions about this o-ring technique. Did he put an o-ring around the outer flange on the rim? Where did he get these o-rings? I noticed that they are also red. Did they come this color or did he paint them? I've been using these type (...) (25 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 9v train idea book: I might be making one, anyone interested?

(...) Hmmmmmmm, I will have to pick up a copy of VirtualPC and give it a try. I think my G3 266 with 160 MB RAM can take on your PB 1400. :) Russell (25 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Longest train...

Hey Larry, (and everyone else!) I'm up to 89 cars/4 motors pulling (no mid train) :) 11 to go to break the big 100 mark...I'm not too sure if I can do it though... James P (25 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Do decals come off?

So, I have been thinking about using some Conrail decals, and I understand that you soak them in water, float them off their backing, and float them onto the train. The big question is, are they easy to get off? Can you just soak the decal off after (...) (25 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 9v train idea book: I might be making one, anyone interested?

(...) Sorry. I will remove that restriction. If you have instructions in some other form they will be accepted used in the book so long as they are either cad instructions or photographic instructions. I am going to insist on one thing here: no (...) (25 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 9v train idea book: I might be making one, anyone interested?

Remember, if you have time to kill you can use LDraw (or MLCad) on a Mac with Virtual PC. You guys must have better Macs than my puny PB 1400 (G3); so, it shouldn't be nearly as torturous for you. When I can borrow the digital camera again I will (...) (25 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 9v train idea book: I might be making one, anyone interested?

Jonathan, I, too, have had an idea such as this, although I have put it on the back burner with regards to my other projects. I do have a few suggestions: #1 - back off on the regulations. Just because DAT files are not available doesn't mean a (...) (25 years ago, 1-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)
