While staying with Chris MacDougald for the recent TexLUG display, I was finally able to get the video I took of my trains in action at the NETLTC display back in the fall out of my father's camcorder. I took some photo's of the three coaches today. I was able to build all three from two hobby train sets with a few of extra piece from my collection (yellow). (...) True, but you still have to upgrade the diodes, capacitor and the power supply. As well as adding more heat sinking ability. I was poking around looking at LM317 specs and can't seem to find the Max Vin. What's the max Vin we can plug into the controller... I see old laptop "wall warts" and inline "bricks" getting tossed all the time here at work. If this alone helps the (...) (17 years ago, 4-Mar-08, to lugnet.trains)

The heat sink will need to be upgraded to a larger size, and a fan will definitely need to be installed to compensate for not just the (...) I am new at this. I have some 4531 switches (points) that are from LEGO. The main line is always powered. Thanks for posting the video, it is pretty impressive. Are you using two RCXs in this layout, one controlling the trains with LDCC and the other for sensors? What type of sensors are you using? My son was given the Hogwarts Lego train a few years ago which I added the 9 volt wheels to. I built up some extra coaches and it has done hundreds of laps around my layouts.
