Re: Switching from 4,5V to 9V

(...) I had the same shock, but that was some 9-10 years ago (the 9V tracks were introduced in 1990, but the 'grey' tracks were available until 1994 IIRC). (...) - (...) I think you mean 12V, since the 4,5V trains carry their own power in a car and (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Switching from 4,5V to 9V

Hi there, is there any brick - or has anyone "build" one - which allows to connect 4,5V tracks to 9V tracks? (I first got a shock when I saw the 9V tracks...) Even so: Has anyone experience in tuning up 4,5V tracks to allow 9V trains to go on it - (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)

Dan, that's quite the amazing beast. Nice job! I must say though, I burst out laughing when I came to the pic of it going round a curve with the body swinging waaay over to one side. Looks pretty weird! Kevin (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Sick, twisted (1) and strangely attractive. Very nice. Of course it's all cheating, really, since none of your middle technic pulley wheels actually are even close to being on the rails, but who cares? It looks good. What an exceedingly clever (...)   Massive 4-8-8-4 Steam locomotive pics posted

As a direct result of Larry Pieniazek's off the cuff "couldn't be done" remark of a few days ago, I posted pictures of my massive steam locomotive with 4-8-8- 4 wheel configuration that I have just built over the weekend. At 68 studs long (not (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: broken motor

(...) Not that I can see... (...) Cool. You might still contact Steve and see what he would trade you for the broken motor. I wouldn't stop playing with the set, after all that's what LEGO is for. I would just set about securing another spare or two (...) (25 years ago, 13-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Looking for track

(...) OK, As a general information post: I have 2 spare 4555's on order. Lego Canada still has them at $65 cdn each now (on sale). If anyone wants one at cost plus or trade, LMK. James Powell (25 years ago, 13-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: broken motor

(...) I hope I didn't start a name-calling war or something... Anyway Consumer Affairs has promised to send me a replacement for the broken motor. That takes care of my immediate problem; restoring the train to play-ability. The question remains as (...) (25 years ago, 13-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: new piece idea

(...) I think also that TLC should make new town windows. Between 1957-77, TLC made 9 different window types. Today we have the 2x2, the 4x3 and a few large 4x5, 4x6 etc windows, but not the variety of the classic era. I woundn't mind if they (...) (...) S@H US is out of 4555. Note that I was responding to Tom mentioning that he was going to ask about 4555 when he asked about the US S@H specials. (25 years ago, 13-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Station For 4559 (& minor fotw)

(...) Not as a set but for parts. there are lots of "railway station" esque parts in there: clocks, depature time boards, luggage carts etc. -- Jonathan Wilson wilsonj@xoommail.com (URL) (25 years ago, 13-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.general)

Re: Station For 4559 (& minor fotw)

(...) Too yellow, and not modern enough for the 4559. I want to built a station that looks like it belongs with the 4559. Scott A (25 years ago, 13-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.general)

Station For 4559 (& minor fotw)

My daughter's school project this term is transport, so we've been playing with our 9v trains quite a bit. At the weekend we got around to thinking about building a station. The main trains we are using right now are 2 4559s we have (4558 in the (...) (25 years ago, 13-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.general)

  Re: train car idea

(...) <yawn> Four of my passenger cars are 60 studs long. I plan on making two more and an observation car, which will be 76 studs long. They are, of course, 8 studs wide;-) I am finding that I can run all four using 2 motors in front on an engine (...) (25 years ago, 13-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)

  train car idea

i got this crazy yet good idea for a large train car. 2 34 stud chassis's. 2 wheel sets, with one custom made (engine look alike like in 4558) to put in middle. so it is like this __ a __ __ b __ 00\_____/ 0T0 \____/00 kind of like that, go from (...)   Re: PNLTC layout

(...) I LIKE the older(more modern looking) logo. Perhaps you can keep it for the eurotrashier parts of your layout (it evokes LEGO's own <-o-> and the britrail double arrow) and keep the new (older looking) logo for the US areas. (25 years ago, 13-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: PNLTC layout

Hi John, All the rolling stock gets rotated. When the members are there. When the OMSI volunteers are staffing the layout we let them run either stock or robust MOCs. The other train clubs show some of their stuff in the cases and this year we (...) (25 years ago, 13-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)
