Re: 16 wide Train Building Odyssey

(...) Hey James, if one wanted to get into, say, 2 1/2", where would one begin? Does anybody actually sell scale stuff at that gauge? I would like to obtain some gauge 3 bettendorf trucks! JOHN (22 years ago, 21-Dec-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: My opinion on Train Marketing

(...) Perhaps Trains (in general) are not of this generation. I remember that I loved to see trains running while I was a little kid. I also loved to go to the aracde and spent a whole dollar on acrade machines. But then the "dark ages" came... No (...) (22 years ago, 21-Dec-02, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Oh, I see. [...] (...) *My* experiments? NBL. I'm a LEGO purist, remember? I just pointed out a possible LEGO solution to the problem, but I see now that it won't work... --Bill. (22 years ago, 20-Dec-02, to lugnet.trains)

  My opinion on Train Marketing

Last night as I was strolling through the clearance section of my favorite Target store, and marveling at my luck at so many train cars being offered at a discounted price, a thought hit me. Why would a kid who did not have a Lego train setup at (...) (22 years ago, 20-Dec-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 16 wide Train Building Odyssey

(...) Yes, I find the large scale stuff very intoxicating as well! Actually, USA Trains (and Aristocraft) are around the scale of 1:29, but utilize gauge *1* track (which is actually scale for standard gauge at 1:32). I *do* have "G" scale trucks, (...) (22 years ago, 20-Dec-02, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Does this help... (URL) actually live within a couple miles of their headquarters and store in Malden MA. Super great stuff! If I were not so dedicated to LEGO trains I would be in their store on at least a weekly basis. Eric K. (22 years ago, 20-Dec-02, to lugnet.trains)

  16 wide Train Building Odyssey

Sorry, no pics yet, but I'm nearly finished with my first 2 cars. I'm posting in hopes of picking the brains of some large scalers out there (James Powell-- hint hint;-)... But first: After many calculations (big thanks to DaveE and his awesome (...) (22 years ago, 20-Dec-02, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Thanks I would have but I'm not subscribed to the group and there are very odd things happening with my groups that seem to stop my subscribing to any more groups. (...) It was a pleasure to share with such a passionate group (22 years ago, 20-Dec-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.trains)

  Re: DCC and the future

(...) What is the point of having a magnet on the track? But anyway, LEGO made magnet holders with a 2x2 plate base that would hold a standard LEGO magnet. They were used in the Ice Planet 2002 space sets, perhaps among others. --Bill. (22 years ago, 20-Dec-02, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Reversing loops are accommodated in DCC The DCC combined power and control signal is a form of alternating current so it is possible to reverse the connections to a section of track without changing the behaviour of the trains.
