1) As you yourself pointed out, better photos. More light and a tripod will do.

Yes... Most of the photos were taken in December, and I don't get a lot of
light in my apartment during the winter. :(  I even have a halogen mounted
over the city and carried some bulb lights up to the side of the city for
the pictures, but it still wasn't enough!  I'm going to have to just go get
a new tripod.

2) I'd want to see reference photos of the real thing.

Absolutely!  Most of this was done from memory, so I don't have pictures
yet.  One of these days I want to just go for a walk and snap a bunch of
pictures of places that inspired me, to include with these models.  Look for
an update maybe in a few weeks. :)

And yet again my LEGO hobby have broaden my horizon. I had no idea they used
those parking lot lifts! I also have a new understanding for the business in NY.

Yeah, only in New York.  :)  Not only do they have to do that, but a monthly
parking permit is usually at least $350.  It's ridiculous.  (One of the
reasons I don't have a car anymore!!)  I never thought they were so strange,
but one day I had a friend visiting from Washington DC, and she just started
laughing when she saw them!  She thought they were the most hysterical
looking things ever. :)

never looked at the details etc.. Trying to figure out how to build stuff is a
great way to learn more!

Absolutely.  I find that I walk around all the time looking at the world and
relating it to my models.  ("oh! I never added any parking meters to my
city".)  I look at lintels and cornices and think "how can i build them out
of LEGO?"  Often, when I'm walking along, I'll actually stare up at a
building, mentally imagining how it would look in LEGO.  "Okay, if that
window were 2 studs, then the wall over here would be another 3... add that
all up and the building would be 18 wide.. "  etc.  :)  I know, it's a
disease. :)

Oh, and the MOCpages look good! This will be a great thing for the community!

Thanks. :)  I'm going to post another message later today or tomorrow in
lugnet.announce.mocpages about the web service, so stay tuned..

Sean

(...) VERY nice! Makes me want to build a part of my town once again, alas I still lack the parts, money and time. Two things that can make the experience in visiting your Village better is; 1) As you yourself pointed out, better photos. More light (...) (22 years ago, 19-Mar-03, to lugnet.town)
