I don't know if it was done on purpose or a 'happy accident' but, the
shadows and lighting differences add so much to the animation....like time
is passing.

Time *was* passing! :)  Chalk it up to "happy accident"... those pictures
were taken across 6 months, from July to December 2002.  I'd planned ahead,
knowing that I wanted to make this time-lapse animation from the very
beginning. I took a picture every month or so, making sure that I always had
the same angle.  They ended up slightly skewed from each other, but a little
stretching and scaling in Photoshop helped get them all lined up.

The shifts in light are because some were at night and lit by my floor lamp,
others were during the summer days where lots of sunlight was coming in,
some were on cloudy days, etc.  Some might even have been with the flash.

I just emailed the link to my entire department here at work....

LOL!  Wow, awesome :)  Hope they like LEGO!

Sean

PS: There's a larger copy of the same animation with a lot more detail.  It
takes a minute or two to load (even on a fast internet connection), but if
you liked the small one, check out the big one, it's worth the wait, and the
second time it loops it's always much faster:
