Hi, everybody!

I'd like to announce my latest addition to my LEGO Manhattan... I've built a
whole new city modeled after Greenwich Village.  There are about 15
different buildings in the city, each of which has its own page, and over 75
pictures in all.

Greenwich Village:

For those of you in a hurry, there are a few full-city pictures here:
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/147 and some close-ups here:

My model isn't a "copy" of any particular place, or of any specific
buildings; I just wanted to imitate the feel of the atmosphere, the clutter,
and the bustle of this part of Manhattan.

For those of you that don't know New York, large parts of "The Village" are
designated as Historic Districts.... most of the buildings are from the late
1800s and early 1900s, are small, and have a lot of character.   There are
no skyscrapers.  This part of the city is always bustling because it has
hundreds of places to eat, an active night life, and many charming narrow
streets serviced by wide, busy avenues.

My model took about 6 months to build, from July to December 2002.   A lot
of the pictures are kind of fuzzy because I don't have a tripod (sorry!) :(
so until I re-shoot, this is all i have.

Sean, This is amazing! There is so much detail that it will take a long time to digest all of it. Great work. Bruce (22 years ago, 18-Mar-03, to lugnet.town)

(...) Hi, Sean! (...) Those are some nice creations. The brickfaced townhome - great work, those colors really compliment each other well. Now if Lego would only release some plate packs in those colors. Joined Buildings - Nice history/story for (...) (22 years ago, 18-Mar-03, to lugnet.town)

(...) VERY nice! Makes me want to build a part of my town once again, alas I still lack the parts, money and time. Two things that can make the experience in visiting your Village better is; 1) As you yourself pointed out, better photos. More light (...) (22 years ago, 19-Mar-03, to lugnet.town)

(...) <snip> Sean, Greenwich Village is wonderful! All of the packed-in detail and intricate designs definitely give it the right 'feel'. As Bruce said, it will take a long time to digest everything. The different textures and styles add greatly to (...) (22 years ago, 19-Mar-03, to lugnet.town)

(...) I know I already replied....but I was taking yet another look..... This animation is so cool. (URL) don't know if it was done on purpose or a 'happy accident' but, the shadows and lighting differences add so much to the animation....like time (...) (22 years ago, 19-Mar-03, to lugnet.town)
