Here is my idea of a fence, you only need lots of (bulk) 1 x 6 plates, and
four 1 x 3 plates (two at each end) per straight run of fence. It does't
require any bracked type parts to place the fence verticaly, the plate posts
can be placed between studs.
For an image, see:

There are 3 layers: layer 1 are two horizontal rows of plates on the back,
spaced 1 stud apart. layer 2 are posts of vertical plates spaced 2 studs
apart, and layer 3 are three horiontal rows spaced 1 stud apart. These three
front rows alternate with the two back rows. Also the plates of the back
rows overlap the plates of the front rows by half their lengths, making the
fence sturdy. This is why a straight length of fence needs 1 x 3 plates at
both ends to terminate the back rows.
Here is the dat-file showing how to build the fence:

| Thanks, everyone for all of the good ideas. Hopefully I will have some free time available during the Thanksgiving holiday to try them out. -Duane (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.town)
