You know I've been thinkng about this. If you neglect a line (like they've
done with technic) There's less product to buy, so you cut down the appeal
of the range because your left with so litle choice (Technic, take it or
leave it). The line then doesn't sell so well, So the company says to itself
Technic no longer sells like it did, therefore the public don't want it, we
we're right to run it down. But in reality the reverse is more likely to be
true.
There's a cascade effect, run down the line, sales get worse, expand the
line and mke it more interesting sales get better. If Lego started making
the smaller cheaper Technic sets again like the 8837 pneumatic digger their
would be a higher chance that relatives of kids would buy it for them and
then the child might be more inclined to buy other sets in the range (if
their we're any). Expecting someone to commit to an expenive mindstorms set
in the first instance might be asking to much.
Steve
Although I wll commend lego for re-releasing the JCB although only on the
net I expect, and it's yellow, I already have too many yellow beams.
