Use kite string, the kind used for stunt kites. It has very little • stretch
and comes in varying weights that go as high as a 100 lb.

having been a stunt kiter for ten years, you wil find that kite string can
be VERY strong, some of the kevlar ones are weight tested to 300 lbs and
even higher for the rokuku kites (really big hexogonal japanese fighting
kites)

for what most people would need i would recommend spider line, the
pre-stretched line is excellent for almost every use and can be found in
weight tests up to 150 i think.  depending on the load you should be able to
get by with some of the lower grades which are weight tested to about 50 or
so.  take a storll to your local kite shop, but BE CAREFUL, if they let you
try you can get addicted very easily, dual line flying is really fun, but
when you get into the tri-line and quad-line kites you can find yourself
spending lots of money on new equipment.

O.T. i'm working on building some zero wind stunt kites that i fly with
dental floss in the student union commons.

m

(...) I think that he meant the "weight" of the string was 100 lb, not the tensile strength. :-) If you need black string, you might be able to find braided leader at your local fishing tackle shop. (...) Cool! But who is this dental floss guy? (...) (23 years ago, 18-Oct-01, to lugnet.technic)
