I think this is the ideal ratio, probably similar to the 1:5 gearing I
used by using an 8 tooth onto 40 tooth gear which coincidentally fits
into the same space as your pulleys. I found that using gears instead of
pulleys made the compressor even more efficient but you really have to
use a pressure limit switch in this case to avoid stalling the motor.

No worries, I'd prefer you to point this out rather than me going on
looking like an eejit :-) The odd thing is that I have told my newsreader
(Netscape 4.73 running on FreeBSD) to wrap the text in outgoing plaintext
messages to 72 columns, and yet it doesn't appear to do so. Very strange.
