Mostly because you gave it "skin" and did not leave it "open framed"
like most Technic sets.

I'm actually not too sure about this myself.  Whenever I try to build a
model at this scale, it ends up being extremely heavy if I add the
"skin".  While the "full body" can look nice, it also makes it almost
impossible to make a proper suspension, due to the weight.  This is the
reason why I went for the "Formel" look, BTW.  A racing car is usually
quite sleek, and can be kept lightweight even with a full body.

I'm actually a fan of the "open framed" technic look.  If done properly,
I think it can look very nice, and it keeps the weight down and you can
see all the internal workings.

The bottom line is probably that this is a matter of taste.  :-)
