  8860 Scissors lift

Hi all, I noticed that the box for the <set:8860> car chassis has a scissors lift. The scans of the instructions on brickshelf: (URL) do not have any instructions for the scisssors lift. Was there a second book in the box or was this just a (...) (24 years ago, 16-May-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8860 Scissors lift

(...) I'm afraid there was only one instruction book. The scissor lift did not feature in it, it must just have been a box-suggestion, (whatever happened to them?) Sorry to disappoint you Psi (24 years ago, 16-May-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8860 Scissors lift

(...) That's too bad; the scissor lift seems to be one of the more interesting box-idea models. I think many of the smaller and medium-sized Universal from 1989 to 1993 or so had the model ideas on the box as well as the older models. BTW while (...) (24 years ago, 17-May-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8860 Scissors lift

(...) Oh yeah, that's a great question. I remember that as a child I felt like I was cheated out of building that part. I guess I hated POOPs even as a child! I completely forgot about it until you mentioned it. Does anyone have this set with the (...) (24 years ago, 17-May-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8860 Scissors lift

(...) I've got two copies, one of which which I got for Christmas in the year of release. Both use 'Shock Absorber 6.5l's. I always assumed (even as a kid) that the box photo was a prototype and the shocks were added due to some design flaw of the (...) (24 years ago, 17-May-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8860 Scissors lift

Hi I have 3 copies of the 8860 and i believe that they all use the grey taps - but i have MISB 8860 in the attic somewhere, so i will have a look for it tonight and to see if it has the chrome ones on? Do you remeber when you opened your 8860 that (...) (24 years ago, 17-May-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8860 Scissors lift

(...) Definitely. For years I only had those four chrome taps. (I've got a few grey ones now but only since coming out of my dark ages) Psi (24 years ago, 17-May-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8860 Scissors lift

(...) Hi, I'm looking through the assembly instructions for 8860: the pictures of the finished model use the springs, all the construction drawings show the shock absorbers, except the detail drawing on the page between steps 21 and 22 which shows (...)   Re: 8860 Scissors lift

Are you sure about that?? When I bought the 8480 Space Shuttle back when it came out, on page 53, instruction 32, they slipped a correction sheet in it. It was NOT stapled to the original instruction. Adrian "David Wegmuller" <david@wegmuller.org> (...) (24 years ago, 18-May-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8860 Scissors lift

(...) I've actually seen the same thing in my 8856 Whirlwind Rescue instructions; there was a loose piece of paper that contained a slightly modified copy of the 12th step in the manual (in black and white). Although I don't think I remember the (...) (24 years ago, 18-May-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) There is a mistake in the alternative model from the 8280 fire engine: (URL) tyres in the inventory are different from those on the trailer. Jennifer (24 years ago, 21-May-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8860 Scissors lift

(...) I recently needed a compact rotary->linear motion converter and tried the electric piston referenced above. It works great for small loads, but if you try to apply any force the bushings slide on the axels. So I modified the design slightly. I (...) (24 years ago, 21-May-01, to lugnet.technic)

The weirdest mistake in a Lego instruction I've ever seen is this: (URL) at the second step in mirror subassembly. Look at the 1x1 bricks (both the one with hole and the regular one) How this could be possible if they are using a 3D CAD program to (...) (23 years ago, 3-Jun-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8860 Scissors lift

(...) How did you notice this? It's such a minute mistake! Notice that the opposite mirror in the lower subassembly is fine and in fact it's the same as the upper one (instead of being a mirror image) except for the hole. Perhaps that's a clue as to (...) I think there was more than one version of this set released. The one I have had for since I was a kid (I think its 20 years old?) had the lt grey taps, but several people I have talked to had the crome ones (one guy was from canada). Maybe the sets (...)
