If you still want the rear wheel drive and suspension, you are going to have a tough time implementing rear wheel steering! The 8880 implements rear wheel steering and drive by some specialized parts. Without them it is somewhat tricky to build (...) (25 years ago, 10-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

8456 had the fiber optics, but is hard to find. The micro motors were available as a service pack. That way you'd get the proper brackets to mount it (top and bottom, rather than two bottom pieces like you get with the space shuttle). Check (...) (25 years ago, 10-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

One other solution I forgot, that I have used with some success for Mindstorms: Make your device smart, so that it keeps track of its own backlash and compensates for it. I made a device that did this. It would keep track of an estimate of how (...) (25 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)
