The biggest problem I could see, especially while I had my JCB Backhoe set,
was that with the handpump, directional motion in one direction was
dependent on the load being levered up - the directional motion on the other
direction depended on how fast one's fingers were with the switch.
Otherwise the model would go from fully extended to fully retracted in about
the time it took the air to whoosh out through the air system.
Another side-effect of this pressure effect was that if you had an extended
lower cylinder, and the cylinder which controlled the bucket on the end in
operation at once, was that the air would rush to the one with the least
resistance really fast and your bucket would whoosh to the other direction
without even having to have any additional air pumped into the system at all
...
Sort of like a mini storage air tank, I suppose, although I would have much
preferred not to have it like that.
And from what I could feel just pumping by hand there was quite a bit of
pressure on the first cylinder. TLG definitely need to consider making a
backflow limiter valve which limits the amount of air one side of a piston
is able to let out.
Another thing they might do is to consider a flow restriction valve
somewhere in the input hoses, which can be cut over to with a flip of a
switch - could be the same thing as a backflow limiter I suppose - in order
to allow the user some additional fine control when they just want a little
air at a time, to have the model smoothly turn, extend, or whatever ...
