Jake, Well...I do own the 8448 and 8466 and I've put an RCX and motors on the 8448 so here's my take on it: I came out of the dark ages through the 8448 (much as you have with the 8466) So there's a special place for it in my heart :) I bought the (...) (22 years ago, 3-Aug-02, to lugnet.technic)

Guys, I hate to break it to you, but Technic as a theme is dead and it didnt just die all of a sudden due to Lego's 2002 vertical marketing scheme but has been on a downhill slide for several years. Alot of the discussion about his topic confuses (...) (22 years ago, 3-Aug-02, to lugnet.technic) !!

Hey guys, I've got 8880 and 8466...both at a bargain. IMHO, 8466 is the better of the two but I still appreciate the engineering that went into the 8880. 8466 seems to have most of the features of the 8448, but I can't seem to motorize that 4x4 and (...) (22 years ago, 3-Aug-02, to lugnet.technic)

I would agree here. The last few years have all been large car kits. I think there could be more construction equipment. I think we could have large and complex farm equipment also. I love the space shuttle (8480) I think they could do a large (...) (22 years ago, 3-Aug-02, to lugnet.technic)

Well, this has been an embaressing time for me, it's been too long since the end of the contest to be doing this. Obviously I'm not cut out for this type of thing. ANYWAY... In my opinion, the problem is in 19999, 2000 and 2001 the large technic sets have all been cars and the market may have got board of this. Maybe if they came out with somthing different yet offer great functionality then technic would get very (...) (22 years ago, 3-Aug-02, to lugnet.technic)

I'm not sure your assessment is accurate. I would concede that the "Technic" word may be dropped from TLC's vocabulary, but I see no evidence that there is much slackening in the pace to create new sets and parts. I think what is happening is that (...) (22 years ago, 2-Aug-02, to lugnet.technic)

I get the funny feeling that the technic line is going down the pan. Technic is my favorite line that lego has produced. Is there any way we can restore the technic line to it's former glory. I do hope that lego are working on some large technic (...) (22 years ago, 2-Aug-02, to lugnet.technic)
