  Re: New Parts

I was hoping you had done that : ) Very Slick ! I'm confused by your pics, though. Why are two of the four axles for the planet gears fixed to the carrier such that they can't rotate ? -Xanthra47 PS. You're gonna sell these, right ? I'll take at (...) (23 years ago, 2-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: New Parts

I've occasionally wished for a 7x7, 56-tooth gear (same size as the outside of the large turntable). I know others have taken turntables apart to use them as gears (I think I saw this usage in a clock mechanism). In fact, I'd buy several (say 10 or (...) (23 years ago, 2-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: New Parts

(...) That's really great, John! Now all we need is a round profile anulus, and some way to connect it neatly to the previous ring, and we can make a "daisy chain" gearbox! ROSCO (23 years ago, 2-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: New Parts

It's already big enough. Check out (URL) and 146081. You forced me to publish. They are only the prototype carriers, but they work ;) JB (...) (23 years ago, 2-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

(...) 1x3, 1x5 technic beams with studs, with 2 or 3, 4 or 5 holes. 1/2 stud Pulley like 4185, but smaller, with round hole. A nice big winding drum, like 2585, but technic-scale (I just noticed the other day that 2585 has ridges through the middle (...) (23 years ago, 2-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: New Parts

John, Nice machining job on the internal gear brick. Can we get one big enough to make planetary sets with ? And while we're at it how 'bout a planetary carier ? -Xanthra47 PS. Only sorta' kidding : ) John Barnes <barnes@sensors.com> wrote in (...) (23 years ago, 2-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: New Parts

:) (...) Yeah, I was going to try that, it's no coincidence that this is April 1 ;) But I didn't have time to polish them last night, and that darn digital camera takes much too detailed pictures! So I bailed on the whole "anyone know what set these (...) (23 years ago, 1-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Glue?? Ewwww.... (...) Not that there's anything WRONG with that! I THOUGHT I saw milling machine marks. :-) John, you should have posted something about some obscure set you found with these nifty new parts in them (after brassoing the marks (...)   Re: New Parts

(...) Actually not a bad idea! The (misnamed in my view) light grey "technic 1 1/2 pin" *almost* fills the bill, it almost fits inside a brick bottom, except for it's shoulder But plate thickness is fine. That's what THEY did in theirs. (...) Size? (...) (23 years ago, 1-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  RE: New Parts

An "inverted tile" please - ie one with studs on the top and filled in on the bottom (so I can add "skid pans" to the bottom of vehicles. Black and dark grey (at least but I can also think of reasons for all the other colours that standard tiles (...) (23 years ago, 1-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  RE: New Parts

A quick hack might be to just glue the exisiting plate parts back to back. That gets you a two-plate stud reverser. The other route is to eliminate the ridge at the bottom of the two plates before you glue them together. I THINK this leaves enough (...) (23 years ago, 1-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: New Parts

:) How thick would the center section need to be - one plate (1/3 brick)? Zero is hard - it'd be just a handful of little double length studs ;) So assuming you want some plate thinckness pieces, what size and color and how many do you need? JB (...) (23 years ago, 1-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: New Parts

(...) Including non Technic?? Me, I've always pined for an easy way to reverse stud polarity. The Megablocks double sided (studs on both sides) plate is a great way to do it in minimal thickness. (23 years ago, 1-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  New Parts

I'm sure I'm not the only one who sometimes wishes for certain parts that TLC don't make .... yet. So, in hopes that it might inspire some Lego design engineer somewhere to go ahead and just make a few, I've decided to maintain a list of such items (...) Great list - but you did include a Roborider - #8004 Dirt Bike :D Here's a few to add: 393 Norton Motorcycle (1976) 394 Harley-Davidson 1000cc (1976) (above two not really Technic, but way cool as LEGO model sets go) 8240 Slammer Stunt Bike (ok, (...) (23 years ago, 31-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: SSPP: To keep or not?

(...) Yes, I know you want the motor addition :) But as I explained the amount of classes would be too great IMHO. Besdides, it appears every single set with wheels can be turned into a puller with a little imagination. /Tobbe (URL) (23 years ago, 31-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)
