  Re: a most splendid 4x4

(...) Yes. The drive axles can move freely through the worm gear and the housing. (...) I can try. I'm more concerned that the axles might twist and break Allan (23 years ago, 25-Oct-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

  Re: a most splendid 4x4

(...) You should have saw the weird looks I got when I was walking down the street with it. I spotted a women in a bus shelter with a dog next to her sleeping. So what did I go and do.   Re: LEGO system of play... is all about telling stories?

(...) Lego is Lego. No one's imagination is going to be impaired by a press release. As long as you're able to put a couple of 2x4 bricks together and call it a cow/spaceship/whatever you'll be fine. We now return to our usual program of ranting (...) (23 years ago, 25-Oct-01, to lugnet.technic.bionicle, lugnet.general)

New edition of 'You play with LEGO devices'

All -- There are several good books available at the moment on building with LEGO Mindstorms; rather fewer books (good or bad) on building with LEGO Technic. This is to draw the attention of non-Japanese readers of LUGNET to 'You Play with LEGO (...) (23 years ago, 24-Oct-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: need flex system ideas

(...) Hi Miguel, That's a great bike!! A chopper was one of the ideas on my list, but I don't think I'll bother now! One idea I had which I thought might look good was to use a 8448 wheel on the back to give it that extra width - most bikes have a (...) (23 years ago, 24-Oct-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: LEGO system of play... is all about telling stories??

(...) Hi Steve et al, I would have to say that, for many of us, it *is* about telling stories. However, if/when TLC forces a particular storyline down the customers' throats, then we have a problem. I think back to the early Castle sets (Gray (...) (23 years ago, 24-Oct-01, to lugnet.technic.bionicle, lugnet.general)

  Re: a most splendid 4x4

(...) I might be wrong, but if your incline is at 63 degrees, then the component of force (force being the weight of your model) along the inclined surface is = 4.5*sin(63) = 4.0 kg. That is the force, or pull, your model is generating in a (...) (23 years ago, 24-Oct-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

  Re: a most splendid 4x4

(...) I'd be interested in an l.s.d if it could be packaged small enough. Did you use worm gears on the axles as part of a telescopic drive shaft system? (...) (...) able to make up there own stories. Another thing that prevents creativity and imagination is juniorisation. We are being given less and larger peices which does not allow us to build what we like from any set anymore. (23 years ago, 24-Oct-01, to lugnet.technic.bionicle, lugnet.general)

  Re: a most slendid 4x4

Thanks. I was not aware that one could order those wheels seperately. I have never seen them advertised as such through Lego.   Re: a most slendid 4x4

(...) The steering was not impresive. It had a tunring circle of 1.62 meters. The worm gears in the axles meant that I could use fewer gears in gearing it down. This decreased the amount of play in the complete transmission and so starts climbing as (...) (23 years ago, 24-Oct-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

LEGO system of play... is all about telling stories??

I was reading an interview today over at Kanohi-Power.com with "Michael," a PR guy with LEGO. His answer to this question caught my eye...
