Re: About Lego Motors being a "consumable"....

(...) If you ever get around to do it, photos would be appreciated. :) I have no motor to fix so I can't experiment. By the way Tobbe, I like your set reviews a lot (on your homepage). The first one I ever read was the 8457 power puller. I strongly (...) (22 years ago, 31-Jan-03, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

Re: Heavily modified 8880 chassis, succesfully motorised and solar powered.

Sounds great! I would also like to see a bunch of .jpg photos. The transmission is something I'd love to see in detail and details on the solar panel you're using would satisfy a curiosity(sp?) as well. Keep us updated. ---...--- Nathan Falslev (...) (22 years ago, 31-Jan-03, to lugnet.technic)

(...) I don't have any 'real' photos, as I don't have a digital camera. The .ldr files come from MLCad, and for me they work in LDview too. Maybe you can try those. (22 years ago, 31-Jan-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Heavily modified 8880 chassis, succesfully motorised and solar powered.

(...) Hi Gillis! Welcome to Lugnet. Your project sounds very interesting, as the 8880's major flaw has always been the difficulty in motorizing it. The quicktime 3d images are cool, but do you take any photos of the completed model? (in JPG) ? I (...) (22 years ago, 31-Jan-03, to lugnet.technic)

Heavily modified 8880 chassis, succesfully motorised and solar powered.

As a school project I'm building a small car powered by a solar panel. It should come as no big surprise that I'm doing this with lego. :) I started out with the 8880 chassis (without bodywork) motorised by an old style 9V motor. The project is (...) (22 years ago, 31-Jan-03, to lugnet.technic)

(...) One of the benefits of being a PC Technician is you get lot's of computers OnLine and often get 30 minutes of "spare" time waiting for installations or simply don't have any work assigned for the moment. /Tobbe (22 years ago, 31-Jan-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: About Lego Motors being a "consumable"....

<<snip>> One of mine new 9V motors have stopped working, oh, well, I imagine it will still run but I can't turn the shaft by hand. I e-mailed LEGO and they sent me a replacement w/o questions. I still have the broken one so I might try to fix it (...) (22 years ago, 31-Jan-03, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

Re: About Lego Motors being a "consumable"....

I still have every motor I ever bought. One runs a bit rough, but still does the job. I consider the LEGO low-speed geared motors to be one of the key components that make the entire system viable. Because they have such capabilities we often use (...) (22 years ago, 31-Jan-03, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

Hey Eric, good stuff! I've XFUT lugnet.faq so Cary is aware of it and can consider it for inclusion in the overall FAQ...
