1. darth maul is not in episode 2. he's dead. no clone. the clones are of
jango fett, the first of them being boba fett.

Yep,Maul is gone. He will not be cloned and he did not survive being cut in
half. Maul was only there to 1 Fill Vader's shoes  2 Let the Republic and
Jedi know that the Sith have returned. He was killed by a Padawan, which
shows that he is weak. The Sith don't aid the weak, otherwise they would
fail. The Sith try to have the strongest in their legions. This is why
Palpatine wanted Luke to kill Vader in ROTJ. Luke's strength in the Force is
greater than his fathers(Midi Chlorian level 22,000?).Also,Palpatine is
racist and sexist. He saw Maul only as a tool and the fact that Maul was
beaten added to Palpatine's beliefs that humans are the strongest race and
all others are inferiors.

Sexist?  I know it ain't canon, but in Heir To the Empire (et al) Mara Jade
is revealed to be the Hand of The Emperor (kinda like his directly employed
assassin).  Rumor had it that he taught her limited force awareness, too.

Mara was kind of a one off. What I meant by sexist was that he didn't allow
female officers.

I know I'm being off here, so bear with me :o)
What about Admiral Daala, second in command to Grand Admiral Thrawn?  She
was posted during the reign of Palpatine.  Sorry.  I are nit-picky.!?.

If he appeared sexist, it was most likely Mr. Lucas (the REAL Emperor!) as
he knew that female action figures just don't sell as well as the male ones
do :o)
Anyway, Star Wars has been nearly beaten like the proverbial dead horse,
nearly everything that could be done has been done in the SW Universe,
somewhere.  I still like it, dream it and pay it way too much attention though!
I'm interested to see how Episode 2 turns out, how close to expectations
Lucas will go, and whether or not he lets the story feel more real than
Episode 1 did, which was kind of sterile you know.

By the way, has anyone read anything that explains where Maul came from?
His background?  I think there is a book on him out now in hardcover, but
man I do NOT want to fill my library up with any more Star Wars novels
(giggle, snort!).

(...) IIRC Daala was Grand Moff Tarkin's lover and he basically had her hidden away inside that secret Imperial weapons facility - you know the one that was hidden amongst all those Black Holes and was virtually impossible to find. I think her (...) (23 years ago, 8-Apr-01, to lugnet.starwars)
