Re: who's feelin the black pack?

(...) - (...) Not at all... in fact you've hit the nail right on the head as far as I'm concerned about the entire race question. What you call "value" is more acurately termed (in this discussion anyway) skin albeido. That is, the level of light (...) (24 years ago, 7-Aug-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Racial issues in LEGO (was: who's feelin the black pack?)

(...) <snip my comments> (...) Ok, Day. Don't give me a nickname and I will not give you one. (...) I think now that you are sincere. Your first posts seemed almost satirical. I withdraw this comment. (...) I must ask. Why do you have to refer to (...) (24 years ago, 7-Aug-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: who's feelin the black pack?

(...) You're right, of course. There are no Indians in the Cowboy sets, or vice-versa. I think closing your eyes to the idea that this is how the toys were, to some extent, expected to be played with is a little naive, though. And it doesn't change (...)   Re: who's feelin the black pack?

(...) foundations (...) Be very VERY careful with this assertion... TLG has NEVER made any indication that the Cowboys were vs the indians... If you'll note, every one of the adversarial themes TLG has produced has some character crossover (IE: a (...) (24 years ago, 7-Aug-00, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: What is it?

(...) Well, judging by the cover of the box, I think it's a peice of Random Equipment (TM) from the hangar bay of the Droid Control Ship, which Anakin flew into. Judging by the inclusion of the Battle Droid figs, TLC was trying to re-create that (...) (24 years ago, 7-Aug-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: who's feelin the black pack?

(...) Well, I think that of the three you noted (Pirates, Knight's Kingdom, Wild West) this one was the one where TLC was treading the most dangerous ground. The others are pretty clearly in a fantasy realm (Pirating and Privateering had many (...) (24 years ago, 7-Aug-00, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: What is it?

Yeah I would like to know what it is aswell.. And to get another topic going apart from that colour nonsens. Greetz, Jay (24 years ago, 7-Aug-00, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) be (...) with (...) in (...) First things first, jay, I really want to curse you out for your condescending remark that I am "just [...] bored [and] trolling." To insinuate that I'd try to stir up controversy around this issue without being (...) (24 years ago, 7-Aug-00, to lugnet.starwars)

  UCS in the future

Ok, after finally finding the UCS models here in Europe I can only agree with everyone else - they're marvellous! Now (again, I know...), what UCS models would be possible in the future? My takes: Episode 1 - Naboo Fighter, AAT Episode 4 - TIE (...) (24 years ago, 7-Aug-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: who's feelin the black pack?

(...) 215 Red Indians is a Lego System set. It might be old, but it is there. eric (24 years ago, 7-Aug-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: who's feelin the black pack?

(...) On the other hand, Emperor Palpatine, who was more gray than Lord Vader, is yellow in the Lego incarnation. I bet the gray Vader head was just a way of making him more special even without the mask. (...) Darth Maul had horns on his head... (...) (24 years ago, 7-Aug-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: who's feelin the black pack?

(...) I'm not sure I follow you on this point. Not that I disagree, I just can't tell what you're saying. :D (...) It's funny, I was just thinking that myself the other day. (...) I bet they'd get it all over the place for making it yellow. I bet (...) (24 years ago, 7-Aug-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: who's feelin the black pack?

(...) of (...) Depends on whether you key on hue or value. Hue (color) is abstract for Lego - no one is bright yellow, so why can't that be a neutral color for everyone? Because of value (relative light and dark). Lego yellow is pale - and held next (...) (24 years ago, 7-Aug-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: who's feelin the black pack?

(...) Amen to that! (...) Seeing as the old Anakin Skywalker (beneath the Darth Vader mask) was a gray minifig head, I can see the logic in that. (...) I bet they'll be dark. IMHO, the triangle-split-moustache head looks like Lando already but a (...) (24 years ago, 7-Aug-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: who's feelin the black pack?

(...) Yeah, I'm aware of that set- in fact, I just referred someone else to it and 215 Red Indians. What I meant wasn't so much that Lego doesn't have the colors available. I meant that as soon as they place one darker toned minifig in, say, a Town (...) (24 years ago, 7-Aug-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: who's feelin the black pack?

I may be wrong (please correct me if I am), I haven't seen Empire Strikes Back in a long time, but isn't Dak the gunner of Luke's snowspeeder black? If he was black he didn't get any special treatment on lego's version. Michael (24 years ago, 7-Aug-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: who's feelin the black pack?

(...) Perhaps you should have a peeks at these sets: 215 Red Indians 9171 Duplo World People And get back to us. They're both in the Lugnet database. Thanks, eric (24 years ago, 7-Aug-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: who's feelin the black pack?

(...) This has probably already been pointed out a few times, and doesn't necessarily apply here because we're talking about minifigs, but I think it's worth noting again that LEGO has for years been selling DUPLO figs in various skin tones: (URL) (...)   Re: who's feelin the black pack?

(...) of (...) I like this last point. I think the people who are bothered the most about this minifig race issue are suffering from a mistaken impression that yellow figs are/were ever meant to accurately represent caucasians. These Barbie (...) (24 years ago, 7-Aug-00, to lugnet.starwars)
