Why do you have to choose between conventional and Technic? Mix'n'match! It
sounds like a good concept, though. I'll be interested in how it comes out!
Mine will unfortunately not begin construction until at least 10 January.

That's a neat idea that should add some "non-box" features to it.

Now *this* I want to hear more about! I'm toying with elevators, but I can
never seem to work out one that will hold its level, be workable, and not be
open to the rest of the ship! It may just be that I don't have any train
doors.

Ah, always the most difficult part. I'm kicking around buying a steel rod or
two to run through a compartment near the base of the ship.

If you can, watch Silent Running--it's a 1973 classic of SF (and the
inspiration for the Mike and the Mechanics song of the same title). It's about
the last forests of Earth, which have been transplanted to large spaceborne
biospheres tended by the film's protagonists. I forget how it comes down, but
the order comes down that a war is beginning and the caretakers are to destroy
the biodomes (the reasoning doesn't come to mind at the moment) and return to
Earth. Instead, the protagonist refuses--he kills the other crewmembers,
destroys some to make his superiors believe he's fulfilled his duty, and he
absconds with the last of the biospheres intact. At the end, it's just him and
three proto-Gonks named Huey, Dewey, and Louie, sailing silently through space
(one of the three robots gets offed before the end of the movie, though). It's
kind of sad, really--but a good way to spend a few hours and a few bucks on the
rental.
It's an interesting movie to see back to back to back with Darkstar and The
Black Hole, I can say that at least.

| (...) about Oh yeah! I've seen that... It's been a while though. I'll have to watch it again sometime. I think for my ship, if I even make one (and I can't start until at least January 10th), I'll probably make a "command module" that consists of a (...) (24 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.space)

| (...) about (...) and (...) It's (...) the (...) Quasar Class Battlecarrier] is 82 studs long and within 10 studs of 32 studs in width, and approximately 14 studs high [I only measured its length]. Most of it is built of just standard Lego bricks (...) (24 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.space)
