I am.

For anyone in the know, Paul Dirac has been called the 2nd greatest scientific thinker of the 20th Century (he was called that by Stephen Hawking). Dirac made the first step towards combining Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity, the two great theories of the 20th Century - by introducing the Dirac Equation. The Dirac Equation describes the motion of subatomic particles moving at or near the speed of light, but has a curious side effect of predicting an electron with a positive charge. We now know this positive electron as the positron, which is a particle of anti-matter. Paul Dirac correctly predicted and described antimatter which was experimentally discovered some time later.

I know all of this because I work at the Paul Dirac Science Library at FSU, and have had the honor of being able to work closely with the Dirac collection. We have handwritten copies of his thesis dissertation and of the book that won him the Nobel prize, plus photographs of him with Heisenberg, Einstein, Bohr, and the Pope.

Okay, I’ll stop now. ;)

Anyway, this is what parks inside of the Tribunal’s shuttle bay. It is the Paul Dirac dropship. Comes complete with 2 ground scouts, 2 aerial probes, and a 2 man rover.

This looks very nice Adrian. It compliments the Tribunal very well. Having seen it twice in person (and owning the probe set), I’m still very impressed!

As one "in the know," and a physics teacher, I can appreciate the Paul Dirac trivia. Good to see some science/physics types out there. Of course, most of us on .space probably wouldn't be into space without being science/physics types. Thanks Lenny! (...) (20 years ago, 24-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)
