It's been a long, long time since I posted anything.  Maybe this will get me
back into it.  Comments and advice are welcome.  Thanks.

Awesome!!! I posted a little while ago regarding innovative designs, and this one definately qualifies. I *love* the use of the boat parts for this MOC. Not only do we see boat parts here, we also see them used a la SNOT! Overall a great design, and (...) (21 years ago, 19-Apr-04, to lugnet.space)

I really love this design - it is so far off from all of the other designs we see. The part that impressed me the most was the lack of space inside the ship - it is too jam packed with stuff to afford living and work space, just like a real warship. (...) (21 years ago, 19-Apr-04, to lugnet.space)

Oh my! This is an insanely cool and unique MOC. EXCELLENT work, man. There's something to be said about the blockiness of parts of it, but I think with this design it works out okay. I'm happy that you used the boat hulls because I've had a couple (...) (21 years ago, 19-Apr-04, to lugnet.space)

(...) I think the crew areas could use some refinement, but overall it's a very impressive ship. -Grand Admiral .space Curator (URL) (21 years ago, 19-Apr-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

(...) I always dig your creative use of pieces. Its cool that you can use something like a ship hull in such a great way. The whole ship has a gritty work-horse look to it. I like it. Felix (21 years ago, 19-Apr-04, to lugnet.space)
  Re: The Oakland

Wow! Welcome back! (If that means anything from someone who's still new here since your last posts.) I always like the re-purposing of pieces for spacy ends. This is a stroke of brilliance. It would be if all we saw was the cannon-base engine-flaps. (...) (21 years ago, 19-Apr-04, to lugnet.space)

(...) Wow! What a great use of elements. The stair turbine, the cannon cart engine nozzles, and of course the boat hull, er, hull. Very clever and it gives the ship a very distincitve look. I like it! The engine detail is nicely done too. The main (...) (21 years ago, 20-Apr-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)
  Re: The Oakland

(...) Welcome back Kenn. The Oakland is a real treat. Very innovative use of boat hulls (altho first time I've seen them in a similiar use was Jim Foulds's spider mecha) - but what amazes me more is seeing them in such a large MOC. Generally (...) (21 years ago, 20-Apr-04, to lugnet.space)

(...) Kenn, Welcome back! And what a treat you've bestowed on us! I really like the Oakland. I checked out the pictures yesterday afternoon and was impressed with the various "radical" parts usage -- the traditional cannon bases, the stair, etc -- (...)   Re: The Oakland

This ship is SWEET!!! The use of the boat hulls is really cool, and the entire thing just has a nice shape to it. Coincidental obviously, but it carries the colors of Sakura Space Command: (URL) ship though, is a bit...bigger. :^) Plus you use more (...) (21 years ago, 20-Apr-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

(...) So that's what pirate sets are for. I always wondered. I am in awe of this ship. Kudos, klondikes and Push-ups for you. Pat Bunn (21 years ago, 20-Apr-04, to lugnet.space)
  Re: The Oakland

(...) unique shape without it looking too weird. The boat hulls don't look forced or contrived-they just fit. The brown modules work well on black, and its nice to see a wing shape used that looks like it belongs in .space. That thing certainly is (...) (21 years ago, 20-Apr-04, to lugnet.space)
  Re: The Oakland

Kenn, I've studied the Oakland... I can't decide what the most exciting thing about it is. It's either your great creativity on display, or it's the fact you've proven space rocks so much it can use Pirate theme pieces without skippin a beat! Space (...) (21 years ago, 21-Apr-04, to lugnet.space)
