Element where they sleep through the voyage?)? And if not, what are they?

Well, that section is the crew quarters and those are sorta like
multipurpose bunks. That section area doubles as a galley and sickbay.

Hopefully not at the same time.

On either side of the red-headed space chick are mock doors that lead
to storage and to the bathroom (I'll see about getting a pic of those
doors). I did not try to flesh out the storage or bathrooms on this ship.

You know, it would never have occured to me to do that, I would have spent
hours trying to squeeze them in for little benefit. I can see much merit in
you approach. Mentally noted should I ever build that big.

It would be capable of long range warp travel to star systems in our local
group. But it's part of a fleet, not a "stand alone" vessel the way the
Argo was in Starblazers. It cannot land and it has no shuttlecraft (I
didn't bother building escape pods this time either but I could easily add a
couple). So it needs support ships for the long haul but I'd say it could
operate for a month on it's own.

Thanks for the explanations.

I must say, though, that I'm a little baffled by the comparison with the
Yamato. Sure there are influences, and apart from some vaguley similar
features, the two are really not very alike at all. In fac the Dragonstar
has a lot more visual interest for me than the other . I guess that's nature
of the medium. traditional animation requires a certain simplicity of
design, whereas Lego models can be as detailed as you like.

I have one question: how big do you think you can go? (no snickering, you in
the back). I mean, you've got the talent, and a clearly prodigious Lego
supply - do you think you could go to 10 maybe 12 feet long (and
proportionally wide) ships?

Cheers,
Allister

(...) If I wanted, I think I could add another 12" to Dragonstar and it would still OK. But as far as a totally new ship goes, I think more than 7 ft is beyond my Lego supply. I imagine I could build something 10 ft long in 2 colors, used in equal (...) (21 years ago, 25-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)
