New MOC: Retail Style Moonbase Module

Hi all, I'd like to present my new MOC (well, not exactly mine, since Shiri built it with me. Yes, you heard me right, Castle Dutchess is playing with spacemen). This is a generic 4-hall module with a McDonald's, a LEGO costume shop, a bathroom, an (...) (22 years ago, 15-Aug-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.announce.moc) !!

Re: New MOC: Retail Style Moonbase Module

(...) I got it to work by playing with the URL's (just change the "01" to "02" etc. And WOW! This is great! I love the mini-module idea, and you've managed to pack in soooo many fun little details. My favorite is the McD's with the aliens working (...) (22 years ago, 15-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Retail Style Moonbase Module

(...) Thanks Paul. It was really fun packing in the details too; nothing like a good frustrating teeny tiny interior to bring out the creativity. :-) -Chris (22 years ago, 16-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Retail Style Moonbase Module

(...) Wow! A creation this packed with details makes a person feel like they will never see them all until they see it in person. It is pretty impressive how you squeeze all those details into each of those small rooms. Also, I love the tour. It (...) (22 years ago, 16-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Retail Style Moonbase Module

(...) Thanks Jason. As I said, we fought with that space quite a bit, but I'm pleased with the results. And when I saw your commons (awesome, btw), I said to myself "why didn't we do the halls that way". :-) (...) Great! Oh, the other thing I forgot (...) (22 years ago, 16-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Retail Style Moonbase Module

(...) Oh NOOOOOOO!!!! McDonalds is truly EVERYWHERE now! }^) I love how the McD color scheme stands out glaringly from rest of the moonbase. Just like real life! My only qualm is the "food" - those are White Castle sliders, not Big Macs! Darrell (22 years ago, 16-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Retail Style Moonbase Module

(...) Way cool. LOTS of great touches. Very detail dense. Bigger is not always better! Is it just me or has this idea caught on faster and stronger than any other idea ever posted here? Up till now, the 1592 variations had that honor I think, but (...) (22 years ago, 16-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Retail Style Moonbase Module

(...) Unfortunately the bandwidth limit was reached while I was walking along the corridors, so I only got to see half of it... But that half was enough to make me want to build something myself, if only my LEGO supply would let me :-( This (...) (22 years ago, 16-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Retail Style Moonbase Module

(...) I would attribute it to the fact that just about anybody can build one. Heck, even Shiri :-) Also, we spaceheads finally have a simple standard to follow. Other than the square 48*n x 48*n footprint and position of the easy to build (...) (22 years ago, 16-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Retail Style Moonbase Module

(...) Thanks Darrell. What would any Moonbase be without fast food? You don't actually think all those Spacemen running around can cook for themselves, do you? :-) -Chris (22 years ago, 16-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Retail Style Moonbase Module

(...) Thanks Lar. (...) Yeah, it's quite a thing, isn't it? Hopefully most of these modules end up at Brickfest so we can see what we get when we slap em all together. -Chris (22 years ago, 16-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Retail Style Moonbase Module

(...) Thanks! (...) Yeah, that sucks. I got an email from Topcities. This weekend I'm going to look into finding somewhere to host the site that doesn't do this every 5 minutes... (...) Well, you don't necessarily need a whole lot of pieces to get (...) (22 years ago, 16-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Retail Style Moonbase Module

Chris & Shiri, This is really fantastic. The details and innovations are supberb, but I think what endears it to me most is that it gives the same feeling of fun that following the adventures of the first minifig Idea Book did (the one with the (...) (22 years ago, 16-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Retail Style Moonbase Module

(...) Thanks Gil. With every "major" creation of mine, I try to add something to it that would otherwise be lost in just pictures. I like telling a story; it really adds something to the MOC. -Chris (22 years ago, 16-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Retail Style Moonbase Module

Rapid Growth of Moonbase (was: New MOC: Retail Style Moonbase Module)

(...) Besides what Jude said (anyone can build one), I think the 48x48 footprint is helping speed the process because it limits the more advanced builders. Before, you'd get started on a project, and keep building, and making it bigger, and adding (...) (22 years ago, 16-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Rapid Growth of Moonbase

(...) I gotta agree with that. This allows everyone to participate more, by making less. Or something witty like that. :-) And, I think that 48x48s coupled with 96x96s give a great flexibility and variety - think most buildings on 48x48 with some (...) (22 years ago, 16-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)
