Motorbike contest anyone? —William R. Ward
With all these motorbike entries, maybe it's time for a contest, like we had with the HoverThings. I'm not really interested in making motorbikes, so there wouldn't be a conflict of interest if I were to host the contest. Anyone interested? Here's (...)         Re: Motorbike contest anyone? —Tony Hafner
(...) If you are going to have this requirement then you might add that each entry should have its own folder. It's really difficult to try to choose a model when 2 or more are in the same directory and aren't clearly labeled. (...) Another thing (...)          Re: Motorbike contest anyone? —William R. Ward
(...) My plan is to build a page on my website that links to the Brickshelf thumbnail and large images. They don't have to be in separate folders for that. But it would be convenient. I'll add "(one folder per model)" to the rules. (...) Good point. (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jan-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.contests)

Re: Motorbike contest anyone? —Steve Runnels
First of all, they're called Future Bikes, or Turbo Cycles. :P (...) I don't see the need for this at all. Let em post it wherever they want. (...) I don't see the need for this, either. If you entered the contest you'd get one vote. That's fair. (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jan-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.contests)

Re: Motorbike contest anyone? —Tony Hafner
(...) I thought it was an odd requirement at first as well, but... in the contests I've judged and voted, there has always been at least one entry in which the host was down when I was trying to evaluate the models. How many people will jot down (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.contests)

Re: Motorbike contest anyone? —Adrian Drake
(...) Who me? *innocent look* I agree, one vote per person regardless of the number of entries, and you can't vote for yourself. That's the way these contests usually go. I'd suggest the mechanism used for the recently completed Blacktron contest. (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Motorbike contest anyone? —William R. Ward
(...) I didn't follow that contest very closely. Since I didn't have any Blacktron sets or experience with Blacktron, I decided not to enter, so I ignored most of the traffic regarding the contest (though I did look at most of the entries). We had a (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Motorbike contest anyone? —Dave Johann
(...) This seems like the only way to encourage new entries. After all, that is partly why many of us entered multiple entries in the Hoverthing contest. One entry=one vote for someone else. (...) This is fairly obvious AFAIAC. Voting for yourself (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Motorbike contest anyone? —William R. Ward
(...) Yeah, I agree. I think I'll stick with the one entry = one vote rule. (...) I don't think people are necessarily so selfish that you end up with an all-around tie. But it does let someone enter one cool item and 9 lame ones, and use all 10 of (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Motorbike contest anyone? —Adrian Drake
(...) I'm still not sure about that. I'm going to go on a stastistical extreme here to prove a point. Let's say that there are 7 entries. Six are the ones I've already completed, and one comes from somebody else. I have six votes, and he gets one. (...) (23 years ago, 13-Jan-02, to lugnet.space)

I don't want to start a war (which I'm sure has been faught *many* times before) so I'll try to stay fair: All the reasons you just pointed out for cad being unfair are true. However, those benefits of cad (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.space)

sounds good to me,except the no CAD part, thats the only way I have of 1) making colors match and 2) getting decent images.         Re: Motorbike contest anyone? —Paul Hartzog
if u think that the cad-ers have an unfair advantage then why not just have cad and not-cad categories so that the two aren't competing against each other. imho, the purpose for a 'contest' isn't the competing anyway. it is the seeing of all the (...)
