Here's the rules I would propose...
* All images to be posted on brickshelf.com

If you are going to have this requirement then you might add that each entry
should have its own folder.  It's really difficult to try to choose a model
when 2 or more are in the same directory and aren't clearly labeled.

* No CAD models
* Each entry earns you one vote
* The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes will go to the models with the most
votes, except that no person can win more than one prize
* In the event of a tie, a run-off will be held
* All models must be created between XXX and YYY dates (to be determined)

Another thing I'd add:
Categories by size or piece count.  A small creation can be just as
technically interesting as a large one, though larger ones are usually more
impressive just because there are more places to put details.  I'd like to
see small elegant designs having a chance.

Two categories would probably be enough, though you could do more.  You
might ask the folks who have experience building these where the cutoff
point(s) should be.

(...) My plan is to build a page on my website that links to the Brickshelf thumbnail and large images. They don't have to be in separate folders for that. But it would be convenient. I'll add "(one folder per model)" to the rules. (...) Good point. (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jan-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.contests)

First of all, they're called Future Bikes, or Turbo Cycles. :P (...) I don't see the need for this at all. Let em post it wherever they want. (...) I don't see the need for this, either. If you entered the contest you'd get one vote. That's fair. (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jan-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.contests)

  Motorbike contest anyone?

With all these motorbike entries, maybe it's time for a contest, like we had with the HoverThings. I'm not really interested in making motorbikes, so there wouldn't be a conflict of interest if I were to host the contest. Anyone interested? Here's (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jan-02, to lugnet.space)
