Rob, Yes, the MicroScout needs the light tube. The Scout, on the other hand, should work with the IR tower. As I stated in my previous message, I have absolutly no problems downloading NQC code to my Scout using BricxCC and the IR tower. I think the (...) (23 years ago, 15-May-03, to lugnet.robotics.scout)

Hi, I just recently downloaded the Scout SDK. I installed the software, but, I cannot get it to see my Scout. When I open the Scout Tool application an error message says "Please be sure your Scout is turned on and within range, then press init (...) (23 years ago, 13-May-03, to lugnet.robotics.scout)

I sent commands to the spybot from Bricxx, but havent' gotten to the point of actually sending commands from the RCX to the Spybot--been a little busy lately. That (...) Having read the messages in the various newsgoups, I must admit I'm a little puzzled. I've seen a lot of discussion about IR communication, but I don't think I have a straight answer. I can get it to work if i hold the blue side of the scout aimed at the tower at about 30 centimeters, with the tower set to short mode. That seems to be the only way to do it, any different and no go. (24 years ago, 15-Aug-02, to lugnet.robotics.scout)

I must have run into this problem before (and forgot about it). I was looking through the NQC source code for using the USB tower and noticed that the Mac OS X version of NQC supports an options -Susb:short which will use the USB tower in short (...)
