  Re: Simplifying Cygwin & brickOS/leJOS

Hi A while ago I looked at using IC for writing programs. At the time there were 2 major turnoffs. There was no support for rotation sensors and you needed to own one of the serial infrared towers. It was easy to install and it had its own firmware. (...) (21 years ago, 5-Nov-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos, lugnet.robotics.rcx.java)

Re: Memory, Motors and Odd Things

(...) Hi Steve, Are you using BrickOS 0.2.6.10? In earlier versions, it was possible for malloc() to return pointers to RAM in the range [F010,FB7F], which was shared with the motor port controller. Writing to this memory adversely affected the (...) (21 years ago, 11-Dec-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos, FTX)

Thanks to all that assisted me in getting set up. It turned out to be missing Cygwin packages. My bad. Two problems. Firstly, BrixCC needs to be restarted to compile 'new' code. Is there a way to correct this problem? Also, I'm having trouble (...) (21 years ago, 7-Oct-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

Thanks to all with the help, I finally got my new News setup info (my original login wasnt working so I had to re-sign up but it took about 2 weeks to hear from lugnet, so Charlie posted some stuff for me).   Re: Release candidate brickos-0.2.6.08 avail for testing

(...) I spoke too soon. There is a problem with cygwin and Makefile.Common in the new release. The host utilities are not built with -D_WIN32 which (of course) causes them to not work at all. In Makefile.Common there is a place where CFLAGS is set (...) (22 years ago, 4-Nov-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

After making this change everything worked perfectly, as far as I can tell. I had a lot of trouble trying to build the gcc cross compiler. With this build and the pre-build cross compiler from hitachi's website everything was very easy. Thanks! (...) (22 years ago, 5-Nov-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

  Re: Interesting BrickOS Timing Results

If one builds a fast moving robot, main concern will be how fast the robot reacts to light sensor changes or how small the structures could be that the light sensor will "see".
