| | Help needed: Problems setting up the IR tower
| I have changed my computer and it is imposible to get my IR tower up and running again. I have used my I tower with my old Pentium 233mmx/win95 with no problems at all (I have used the original lego software / NQC /WinlegOS). After changing my (...) | | Re: Forced to use IR Tower?
| (...) If I understand you correctly, you wish to use the IR port built into your laptop instead of the IR tower. To the best of my knowledge this is not possible. John Hansen (23 years ago, 12-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| | Two RCX with one IR-Tower
| Hello, I want to control two RCX with one ir-tower. The problem is that the RCX should send back status information. Sending information to the RCX is quite easy: Both RCX receive the message but only one will perform the command. I found (...) (22 years ago, 11-Apr-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| | IR Tower not responding
| Hi there, Can someone please help? I've just installed LeJOS for Windows as instructed in (URL) However, when I call firmdl.bat, I get an error message which reads "Tower not Responding". I find this really odd because the IR tower blinks green when (...) (21 years ago, 11-Aug-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.java)

| | Re: Use PC's IR port instead of IR tower?
| The basic difference between PCs/PalmPilots/WinCE IR ports and the RCX is a different physical transmission/modulation protocol. In the PC etc case the commonly used format is described by the IrDa standard (www.irda.org) where seperate IR pulses (...) (25 years ago, 12-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| | Re: Decoding the LEGO IR remote control
| (...) Do you want to connect the PIC to the IR tower to receive signals from the Lego remote control, or do you want to build your own IR receiver, and attach the PIC to that? The encoding of the IR is pretty simple. The IR tower contains a circuit (...) (25 years ago, 17-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| | Re: IR tower problems on a laptop with NQC
| I also figured out what COM3 was: the internal modem. I disabled it in Device Manager and now the only port that I can find in my C# app or in Hyperterminal is COM1, the serial port. But the IR tower is still not working. By the way, the built-in IR (...) (18 years ago, 10-Mar-07, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, FTX)

| The light goes on as soon as you plug in the tower? Sounds like someone is already using COM3. I was looking around DELL technical support and you may have a bit of work ahead of you. First off your serial port on the inspiron 8200 should be COM1. I (...) (18 years ago, 9-Mar-07, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, FTX)

| | Re: Use PC's IR port instead of IR tower?
| In theory it's possible, provided that: [1] The optical frequency matches adequately (anyone know?) [2] 38400 Hz is close enough to the RCX/Scout modulation frequency to get past any bandpass filtering.. [3] The PC software can accurately turn IR (...)
