  NQC 2.4 r1 released

It seems like NQC 2.4 has been stuck in beta test for a very long time...I wanted to wait for Mac OS 9 and Linux USB support, but at the moment Lego hasn't released their Mac OS 9 driver and the Linux situation is probably best addressed right now (...) (...) Yes, this is right, to be friendly to as many implementations of the Lego IR protocol as possible, receiving programs should just mask off bit 3. (...) While the code is there to discern packets with different addresses, I haven't yet added (...) (21 years ago, 12-Sep-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.java, lugnet.trains)

Also can I get just the USB tower from LEGO? Thanks and sorry for all the questions. (...) (21 years ago, 17-Feb-04, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, FTX)

Hi, (...) that depends on which tower you are talking about: - For the serial tower just do it. - For the USB tower it seems you can't, as there is no documented function to do that. Jürgen (21 years ago, 9-Mar-04, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

(Slightly Offtopic:) WinAmp remote control via IR Tower

Okay. No rotten tomatoes, but this post is slightly outside the scope of this newsgroup. However, I really think that the interest in a question like this is going to be high, so here goes. Browsing WinAmp's plugin page, I found a snazzy little (...) (25 years ago, 15-Feb-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Re: control RCX from PC

(...) I have a simple WIN32 console application (with C source code) that opens the USB tower to listen for messages from the RCX. You can easily modify this program (using the WriteFile() API system function) to talk to the RCX. (URL) not exactly (...) (20 years ago, 16-Apr-04, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: More RCX's controled by one tower ?

You cannot program them independantly, but you can make sure your programs respond to different IR messages during normal operation. All RCX's will receive the messages, but as long as only one responds with some action then independant control is (...) (23 years ago, 22-Jan-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics)

  Getting started; FFT; millisecond timing

Hi everyone, my first posting. First off, heartfelt thanks to Ralph for pbForth. Having recently (Jan 2004) got hold of Mindstorms 2.0 I thought I would lay out the way I found to get up and running with pbForth. It took me a week or two to figure (...) (...) It sounds like firmware download is aborting when trying to shift from normal to fast speed. Fast firmware download with the USB tower has always been a bit touchy.   got usb tower working at quad speed under linux

I've managed to get the USB tower working for quad speed downloads under linux. There were some interesting issues along the way. 1) The usb tower doesn't allow control over parity, so you have to leave it on odd. I got around this by making a new (...)   Re: Two RCX with one IR-Tower

The 'usual' way to get status data is to poll the the RCX memory for status information, but you can't do that because of the number of RCX bricks; so how about getting each RCX to send a response message (or series of messages) to the PC encoding (...) pbForth is going great now. It's made this toy just what I had hoped for ! Anyways, I was thinking if I could use my IR port from my PALM3.
