If your IR tower still functions, and it's just a matter of not having a serial
port, the simplest solution would be to just buy an adapter that will allow you
to hook up a serial device to a USB port. I don't know if Radio Shack will
deliver to you, but here's a link that'll give you some ideas for what you'd
need to buy (ignore the stuff that's farther down the page, as everything that
you'd be looking for is at the top of the list):

As for the XP issue, that's probably just something you're going to have to
cheat. XP will complain about software that doesn't have the right
authentication, but that doesn't mean it won't _run_ the software. Just that it
doesn't think you should trust it. Supposedly you can also tell XP to run a
program as if your system had an older generation of Windows installed, but I've
heard mixed results on that, and I've never actually tried it myself (it still
won't get around any complaints about lack of authentication certificates,
though).

| Guys, Just retrieved my (dusted) RCX kit & a few spybots, when I move things around, unfortunately, my notebook does not have serial port any more. Moreover, the CD does not support XP either. Do you aware if any online shop will sell RCX USB (...) (17 years ago, 22-Jan-08, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)
