Re: Any interest in spare 6.270 board parts?

(...) I've had a number of replies to this, so thanks for your interest. If I'm unable to find a home for the parts, I'll post here again. -Tim (25 years ago, 11-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Hexapod servo supply

I had a very similar problem with my robot. When the servos are under high load (ie holding up your robot) and you try to move them all at once, the current drawn is quite large. I never actually measured how large, but large enough to destroy a 1A (...) (25 years ago, 11-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: IR Sony Input?

(...) The drivers and instructions for the Sony IR capability can be found on the official HB web site. I think it's in the Software Contributed section. -- Will (25 years ago, 11-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Expansion Board problems

You have a short circuit somewhere. The first thing to check is to make sure you have the capacitors in the right way. Some of them are polarized, and if you put them in backwards, they sometimes short out, and sometimes they blow up. The next thing (...) (25 years ago, 10-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  IR Sony Input?

Handy Board Users, Thank you for your response a couple of weeks ago concerning the Reference Voltage on the Handy Board A/D converter. I ended up scaling the output of my thermistor as you suggested. I do however have another problem. I am (...) (25 years ago, 10-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Expansion Board problems

Hi, Just finished my exp board, checked over all connections twice and looked for shorts, installed it, turned on the board and attempted to download the exp libs. Wellll when I truned the board on the LCD was just squares across the top, but the (...) (25 years ago, 10-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Hexapod servo supply

Hi all, I am now building a hexapod robot. There is something wrong on the servos preformances. Actually, my robot weights 1.6kg, and by calculations my servos can support up to 2.5kg with normal operations. But when I connected the 6v dc supply for (...)   Any interest in spare 6.270 board parts?

Some years back, I got a set of "hard to find" electronics parts for the 6.270 board (from PK Oberoi, for those who might know who that is). I never got around to building the boards, and I'm doing my robotics stuff with the RCX. So, I thought (...) (25 years ago, 10-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Sonar Assembly

(...) Yup. Works great. However, you may want to use the attached version of the sonar sampling code in place of the code found on the HB web site. The only real difference is that this version takes three readings in rapid succession and then (...) (25 years ago, 10-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Sonar Assembly

We're looking into buying a sonar ranging module from Acroname for use in our lab. Does anyone reccomend a particular offering of theirs? If we buy this unit: (URL) we will have to do to connect it to the HandyBoard are the wiring steps laid out on (...) (25 years ago, 10-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: HandyBoard Assembly

Eric, The pcode does load, or otherwise the beeper would not beep with the board reset. But you cannot communicate with your PC, which seems to be a very common problem with the newer and faster PC's. If you are using the freeware version of IC, try (...)   Re: GP2D02/GP2D12 w/o expansion board

When using the GP2D02, you are using port A, pin 5 and port A, pin 0. That's where the PA0 and PA5 terminology comes from. I wrote that particular piece on the Acroname website, so I apologize for not being more clear. And yes, it is necessary to (...) (25 years ago, 9-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: sound generators

Of course, the Handy Board has a piezo speaker built in. With the beeper and tone functions provided by IC, you can make all sorts of sound effects. You can make your robot sound like R2-D2 if you like. Also, Radio Shack sells piezo speakers. -- (...) (25 years ago, 9-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  RE: sound generators

The Handyboard has one on it. Therfore, if you look in the manual's part's list, it should list where it's from. (...) This message is for the named person's use only.   Re: HandyBoard Assembly

it seems like the HB is not able to talk back to your PC. make sure the TxD signal starting from the 'hc11 is leaving the HB properly at the RJ11, reaching the interface bd, and then being cvt'ed to -10v to +10v levels out the interface bd on its (...)   Re: GP2D02/GP2D12 w/o expansion board

(...) Why does it make the ports useless for other sensors? If you need a pullup-resistor, you can still solder a 47k resistor directly to your sensor-connector between Vcc and Sensor in. Thus in my opinion the HB can be used more flexible without (...) (25 years ago, 9-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  HandyBoard Assembly

I recently finished collecting all the parts for the handyboard and started assembly. I went all the way through the i/c board setup without a hitch. But when I got to assembling the serial comm circuit a few things went wrong. I assembled the (...) (25 years ago, 9-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: light sensors

All it is a a variable I've tried a pack I picked up at Radio Shack and they worked easy enough. However, the ones (...) (25 years ago, 9-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  sound generators

hi, Does anyone have a good idea about sound generating source. We are thinking of using Piezo transducers but don't know where to get them. This is for our product design course where we are designing a singnal indicator for an antenna. We would (...) (25 years ago, 9-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
