  Re: voltage regulator current rating

(...) The rated total is 1 amp. The HB itself draws 100 to 200 mA? I'm not sure, I haven't measured it exactly. Since the HB's battery is 9.6v, and the output voltage of the regulator is 5v, the thing drops 4.6v, and at 600 to 700 mA of current that (...)   Re: Assembler

Hello all, I'm working with a friend of mine in the Robotics lab at the UofM to try to interface a Miniboard with a Handyboard through the SPI bus. We're having a fair amount of troubles trying to do it through interactive C. I figure we'll have to (...) (28 years ago, 4-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  voltage regulator current rating

Does anyone know the current rating on the 5V voltage regulator located next to the power switch? I am using a bunch of IR sensors, and am supplying power to them via the +5 V bus, but my VR seems to be getting quite hot. The sensors draw around (...)   Ordering From 6270 Technologies

Fellow Roboticists, I am having a great deal trouble in getting my already "paid for" board sets from 6270 Technologies and Panji (P.K.) Oberoi. Back on the first week of Jan 96, I ordered and paid for a 6.270 ver 2.21 board set. During this time I (...) (28 years ago, 3-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  updating the FAQ

Hi Fred, In the ICB faq, could you change: Please note one big GOTCHA with ICB files. On the MS-DOS platform, the ICB files must have Unix-style line termination. OK, what does that mean. to something like: Please note one big GOTCHA with ICB files. (...) (28 years ago, 2-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Controlling the H-Bridge Circuit with the HB

Hello all, I was wondering how the HB can control an H-Bridge? I was hoping to use a IC that already has H-Bridges on it. These IC's only need a TTL signal. So if someone could tell me what all needs to be physically done to the HB to accomplish (...) (28 years ago, 1-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  sonar for obstacle avoidance

Ok, it seems that everyone thinks the Polaroid sonar module is pretty nifty. However, how is it for _obstacle avoidance_? My new robot has a dire need for a way to keep from crashing into things all the time, and sonar would seem to be a nice (...) (28 years ago, 1-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

You mean besides making it 'crawl'? In my robotics class were were programming autominus vehicle equipped with a servo mounted sonar on the front.   Re: sonar modules

(...) Where does it get it's power from? The handy board? I just might go out and buy one of these, since I'm getting tired of my robot smashing into walls! :-) (28 years ago, 29-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: sonar modules

Hi Jeff, The Polaroid sensors work pretty darn well. I've been able to get 1" resolution from 8" to 130"++ (reportedly they work to 35 ft - my room's not big enough to try this out). I was able to get mine working in about 10 minutes. Basically, (...) (28 years ago, 29-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  excessive motor current?

I just managed to convert a Cat D10 toy into a robot. In doing so, I've converted the power source for its motors from Alkaline to NiCads. One thing I've noticed is that the NiCads make the robot seem A LOT more powerful. I measured the current (...) (28 years ago, 29-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
