Does anyone know the current rating on the 5V voltage regulator located next to the power switch? I am using a bunch of IR sensors, and am supplying power to them via the +5 V bus, but my VR seems to be getting quite hot. The sensors draw around (...) Hi Fred, In the ICB faq, could you change: Please note one big GOTCHA with ICB files. On the MS-DOS platform, the ICB files must have Unix-style line termination. Ok, it seems that everyone thinks the Polaroid sonar module is pretty nifty. However, how is it for _obstacle avoidance_? You mean besides making it 'crawl'? In my robotics class were were programming autominus vehicle equipped with a servo mounted sonar on the front. Can I get more details on the wiring? I am using the description by kent I believe. Connecting BINH is preventing it from working. It clicks but the echos immediately (0 inches). without BINH, I get it to run but with minimal distance of 18". Maybe (...) (28 years ago, 29-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Hi Jeff, The Polaroid sensors work pretty darn well. I've been able to get 1" resolution from 8" to 130"++ (reportedly they work to 35 ft - my room's not big enough to try this out). I just managed to convert a Cat D10 toy into a robot. In doing so, I've converted the power source for its motors from Alkaline to NiCads.
