  Hall Effect Trans.

I have to measure the speed of a wheel similiar to a bicycle wheel. I figure the best way (or at least one way) to do it is to use a hall effect transistor switching into a counter. Does anyone have any suggestions for a part/manufacturer to use for (...) (27 years ago, 11-Aug-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Hall Effect Trans.

I'd like to hear what you come up with as well. Presently I just use the magnet/coil sensor pairs that you can buy in any bike store. You just hook the shield to ground, and the other wire to, say, an input-capture pin of a 68HC11, with a 3.3 K pull (...) (27 years ago, 11-Aug-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Can you parallel a 9.6v eight pack NiCad cell to the HB Nicad pack? Has anyone done this with success? If so, does it charge properly? jm (...) (27 years ago, 11-Aug-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

dear german, i think what's going on is that you are asking very open-ended questions that require a lot of work to compose a helpful response. if i remember right, your earlier question was with regard to networking using the spi port of long (...)   Re: Voltage

Yeah, the 12V goes into the motor power pin of the L293's. Thus you will get a higher than 9.6 motor voltage. ---...--- ericson mar Master of Engineering Candidate Project: Mobile Robotics mar@cooper.edu (212)353-4356 Department of Mechanical (...) Yeah, you're right. I hadn't realize that constraint of the L293's.   Voltage

Hello all, Fred Martin may have said something to this list about 12v being ok as a battery voltage. If so does the motor drive voltage go up accordingly? Thank you for your help, Joe Martin Email:joema@mpx.com.au (27 years ago, 9-Aug-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Hey Chuck, Being the lazy person that I am I modified another servo instead of figuring out the problem w/ the other one(I'll check it out later...) THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED!!!!!!! They both run much closer in speed. Now I'm off to get the rest of the (...) (27 years ago, 9-Aug-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Thanks for don't replly to none of my e-mail!!! All it's cool , but i can accept nobody know wath i answer??? Well i really want somebody tell me: "well i don't want to reply you" .   Re: Servo as drive motor

(...) Because the servos are closed systems they don't have a hard requirement that their motors run at the same speed, however it would affect the slew rate which is spec'd so they have to be reasonably close. If you zapped the capacitor and turned (...) (27 years ago, 8-Aug-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  stepper motors

Hi, Thanks for all the responses regarding CdS photo cells. Now I am considering using stepper motors in my project as well. I have seen some postings on this list before regarding these motors.   Re: Servo as drive motor

(...) I'll try to replace the caps and see if there is an improvement. I was thinking that when I melted the new leads to the motor I may have left the iron on it for too long, thus burning up the caps. I'm going over to my dad's shop to work on (...)   Re: CdS cells

(...) It's certainly easiest to start out with a sensor that has a reasonable resistance range. However, if for whatever reason you have sensors that tend to be lower in resistance to the ideal, simply add your own resistor between the signal and (...)   Servo as drive motor

Hello, I have modified and connected 2 servo motors to the handy. The speed of one is much slower than the other. I swiched the motors around (first in Port (0),and (2) ) and then the reverse and the same motor is slower ... could I have fried the (...) (27 years ago, 8-Aug-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: CdS cells

David, I believe you will want to purchase ones that have a dark resistance more than say 20K. The sensor is part of a divider circuit that includes a 47K resistor. The sensed signal equals (sensor resistance)/(sensor +47K) multipled by 255. If your (...) (27 years ago, 8-Aug-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
