  Com port trouble with IC

I recently bought a Handy Board which works fine, but my version of Interactive C wants to communicate with the board via COM1 only. The port I have available, without completely changing my computer setup, is COM3. How do you get IC to change ports (...) (27 years ago, 20-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Voltage

(...) 12v is fine. you could up go to 18v or so w/o problems. you might not even need to change the adapter. if the yellow charge LEDs light, then the batt is charging ok. it will be slower than the original pack but maybe that is not a problem for (...)   Re: assembling i/c board

no, it should be just as bright. make sure you use the special low-current HLMP LEDs as specified. normal LEDs won't work right. -Fred (...) (27 years ago, 20-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Voltage

Hello all, What is the max. voltage I can run through the handyboard. I have a 12v dry cell battery that I would like to use. If I can use a 12v battery, can I change the transformer to the handyboard charging/serial unit? Also, I am looking for a (...) (27 years ago, 20-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  assembling i/c board

Hi, Is it normal for the i/c board PWR led to not glow too intensely?...cause my PWR led is not glowing that brightly compared to my serial led. Before my PWR led did not glow at all until i resoldered some joints that look like it needed more (...) (27 years ago, 20-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: assembling I/C board

(...) Well, if the power LED didn't light, then you don't have power to the MAX232 chip (unless the LED is installed backward or broken). It sounds like you've already skipped ahead without passing the first set of tests, which I've copied from the (...) (27 years ago, 19-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  assembling I/C board

Hi, I've encountered some problems assembling the interface/charger board. After installing the 16-pin socket for U16 and the capacitors and then mounting the MAX232 chip, I then applied power to the board. But, the PWR LED did not lit up and the (...)   back-ordered from DMS/Prabal Dutta?

Hi everyone, I have been receiving word of people having orders 8 to 10 weeks old with Digital Micro Systems/Prabal Dutta that have not been filled. I would like to assess the situation more generally. If you presently have items back-ordered at (...) (27 years ago, 17-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  serial light steady on

I have completed the charger/serial board and it checks out Ok except for the fact that as soon as the host serial cable is plugged into the board, the green serial light is steady ON. The voltage between pins 2tx and 7gnd is -12V. I thought this (...) (27 years ago, 17-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: HandyBoard newsgroup...

(...) I got mine from BG Micro (www.bgmicro.com/800276-2206) but I wasn't too happy when my CPU and static ram came in the same, non-static guarded, non-foam inserted, plastic bag. I've also been looking for a 86HC12 vendor but haven't found any. (...) (27 years ago, 16-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  68hc12?

I'm currently assemblying a handyboard and came across some literature for Motorola's 68HC12 microcontroller. The one thing that attracted me to it is its built in memory-mapping capabilities. Do people generally find the handboard's 32K limiting? (...) (27 years ago, 14-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
