  6500 Sonar and HandyBoard

Kent, I read your quick explaination of how to connect the Polaroid 6500 sonar board to the HandyBoard, and I have a couple of questions.... Mainly, you mention that the INIT signal plugs into pin 9 of the second motor driver chip socket, and that (...) (27 years ago, 20-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Digital Micro Systems

Everybody, DMSC is run by a nice guy named Prabal Dutta who posts frequently to this list and who isn't evil and as far as I can tell isn't over his head like some "vendors" in the robotics community have been. Agreed, its a poor way to do business, 'specially for a small business man, I will not place an order with them again. My students, who need these boards to complete senior design projects and graduate are not happy. - Joe C. (...) (27 years ago, 20-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Has anyone built this homebrew sonar ranging board?

(URL) a system similiar to the Polaroid 6500, but costs <$10 to build. Has anyone done it? Should I try it and share the results? (of course I should!) Does anyone see any major drawbacks after reading that, as compared to the Polaroid 6500? Is (...) (27 years ago, 20-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Joseph, (...) I have been trying for two weeks to get a hold of them. None of my messages (phone/email) are answered, and I am still waiting for the parts (high current H-bridges) to arrive.   Digital Micro Systems

I placed an order with Digital Micro Systems for two complete handyboard systems on 16-April-97. Delivery was promised by 5/12. It has not been received. w/o the ds1233, the contents of the ram will become corrupted during power-up or power-down of the 6811. an r/c could protect during power-up, but wouldn't reset the 6811 during power down. remember it's still trying to execute code as system (...)   Generic 68HC11 board question-

Howdy- I was wondering about the DS1233 EconoReset thingy- what would happen if it wasn't there and reset was just tied high or through a RC delay to high? Does the DS1233 just add to 'reset stability' or is it important to keep reset from going (...) (27 years ago, 20-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  buying Chips

Anyone know where to get a hold of one 6811 microprocessor for around $10? Everything I've seen sofar either wants you to buy in bulk (you have to buy 23 @ $7.11 from Motorolla) or almost $20 for 1 chip. This stinks! Any info would be appreciated. (...)   Re: Handy Board Problem: getting hb back into download mode

(...) Are you holding down the STOP button? With the board powered on, read the voltage at pin 3 of the 6811. When pressing the STOP button, pin 3 should read between zero volts and 0.6v. Releasing the STOP button, you should get 5v. If you get 5v (...) (27 years ago, 19-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: Handy Board Problem: getting hb back into download mode

Hello, I'm at a loss for what will take to get either of the two boards into DL mode. The board has nothing plugged into it; the BATT and PWR LEDs flash on and then PWR remains on so I can not confirm the synptoms of the ds1233(U12) voltage monitor (...)   Re: Vector 2x compass

A mistake has been found on the V2X schematic, the M/S pin on the compass needs to be grounded. I don't know what it is, everytime I publish something, I make a mistake. (27 years ago, 19-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
