Riachard, Could you please explain to me how the IR emitter angled at 45 degrees is able to pick up its beem. I'm unsure of the IR emmission dynamics. I was poking about the HB with an osciloscope and ran into a bit of confusion. I had the motor outputs ON and wanted to see the PWM effect. I just sucessfully finished putting together the handyboard and will say that if one takes their time and is careful-there shoould be no problems. One observation/question. Hi Fred I am attemping to run two low voltage DC motors (as motors 0 and 1), around 3V each(I don't have specs). I think I might have wrote something wrong before. I said that you can use an external battery of 3V. I take it back. Sorry... I didn't realise that it would only work for 6 volts to 36 volts. U can use an external battery with the HB. It can be 3V. Check the FAQ in the HB HP. as has been discussed on this list, the Handy Board wasn't really designed for three volt toy motors. Reducing the voltage and doubling the motor chips is a reasonable approach, however. Hmmm. What voltage and/or LEDs are you using? Assuming 5V, your LEDs age passing only around half a milliamp of current. I am using a 100ma LED and I can only get less than a foot of detection. Am I missing something here? Jun Nolasco (...) (28 years ago, 1-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

(...) Those are the IR LED's - the one's that transmit the IR light that the receiver sees. Also, while I'm at it, I found out that the diagram above isn't completely accurate (I drew it from memory). The circuit I really use is like this: (...)
