I just sucessfully finished putting together the handyboard and will say
that if one takes their time and is careful-there shoould be no
problems.  One observation/question.  I notice that with the battery
installed, the "heartbeat" character on the LCD is more "stable" for
lack of a better word.  My guess would be that I'm getting better
current regulation as the the DC is sinked via the battery.  This seems
to be the case with the AC adapter plugged in the Handyboard plug.  Is
that the case?
Also another question-now the fun begins because I am not a programmer
in any sense of the word.  I know what a primative is only because I
have messed around some with LOGO via Brian Harvey's first book (you
boys from MIT really get around).  I also have the intro to interactive
C-but it may be hard for an experienced programmer to put himself in my
shoes.  I have a MAC2si, my computer of choice and also a spartan DX66
PC.  I use the Mac whenever I can which would be the obvious choice of
one who had access to both.  Now the question.  What's the quickest,
most efficient way to get a handle on C.  There is no substitute for
practice I acknowlege but with a programming language unlike some other
subject-you just can't jump into mid-stream.  Hence what is a good
way-i.e.text or otherwise where the author knows BOTH the English and
the C language AND the differences thereof and assumes the learner only
knows at the beginning- English and the difference between a comma and a
semi-colon.?!  Thanks in advance.  Cappy Anderson  P.S.  The Hanyboard
is really cool.

Cappy, (...) I believe that the quickest, most efficient way to get a handle on C is to obtain and begin reading a book called "The C Programming Language" by Brian Kernighan and Dennis Ritchie, ISBN 0-13-110362-8. This small book describes the (...) (28 years ago, 1-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
