  Re: IR wall detection

Keith, Try an LM567. It's a tone decoder with PLL and VCO. Basically set the internal freq. of the 567 any where between .01 Hz up to I think 500 kHz. Feed a signal into the 567 and if the freq's match up, the 567's output goes low. I've been (...) (28 years ago, 16-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: dual servos

There may be two separable issues in your experiment: 1. "twitching" when the control value isn't changing. this should not happen. 2. twitching because of flakiness in the pot reading. this would not surprise me at all. if the A to D reading on the (...)   RE: LM629 and "quadriture incremental" encoders

The last time I priced these chips they were $249.00 each qty 1.   LM629 and "quadriture incremental" encoders

I was reading through the mail archive last night and was struck by a message someone sent regarding the LM629 motor controller. It seems as though this is a really cool chip! I requested some samples and they are on the way. My question is this, I (...) (28 years ago, 16-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  dual servos

Greetings all, I have been programming lately using the recently released dual servo routines. I have noticed that if I enable both servos and simply send each of them a pulse (servo_a7(or 5)_pulse=3040 for example) they respond faitfully but then (...) Please see the Servo page, linked off of the Software Resources page: (URL) you load the drivers, and connect the servo to power, ground, and a control output. -Fred In your message you said: (...) (28 years ago, 15-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: (BrainDead)

(...) there 's one little mistake here.. you do not only need the servo.c file, but also the servo.icb file...So first you have to load the servo.icb file an then the servo.c file to get the thing working... Now you can use the servo commands as (...) (28 years ago, 15-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  (BrainDead)

I'm kind of stuck, and hopefully someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong. My group and I have been working with the HB for a couple of weeks now and have progressed to the point (in programming the HB) where we've written programs utilizing muliple (...)   (IR sensors)

Can some give me a suggestion as to what kind of IR sensors would be good to use in conjunction with the Handboard on a mobile robot. I remember seeing some info on Sharp IR modules...and if I'm not mistaken, the posting mentioned that these IR (...) (28 years ago, 15-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Tom, With regards to your writing the program that compared two sensors...may I ask what specific sensors were you using? or had in mind?? Jim Tegarden (28 years ago, 15-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  HB ni-cad battery pack

I located a 9.6 volt 700 or 900 mah battery pack at Radio Shack and the one on the parts list is just 500 mah. My question is, will the charging circuit work ok with either of the above battery packs from Radio Shack? Thanks Bill Rose (28 years ago, 15-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Long Distance Communications

RF modems. These are 9600 baud and up serial links with just that range. Cost tends to be $500 per. I don't know of any brands I can recommend off-hand. Try a net search? -fred In your message you said: (...) (28 years ago, 15-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Long Distance Communications

How Can I communicate between handy boards over long distances, cost effectively and wirelessly.I would like to communicate over distances of several miles. Thank you, Joe Martin joema@mpx.com.au (28 years ago, 15-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Pins Y0-Y5 addresses

Info on how to use these pins is explained in the Appendix B of the 6.270 manual. The HB and the 6.270 have the same memory/digital I-O circuitry. Look in the Tech Docs link off the main page. -Fred In your message you said: (...) (28 years ago, 15-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

You know, I just had a wacky thought...

Rememeber all those MOSFET stereo ads in the back of Pop Electronics et al? I got to thinking about it today and wondered if they wouldn't make a cheap and easy motor controller?   Pins Y0-Y5 addresses

  Re: Ports on Windows NT

Dear Chris, The reason that the downloaders don't work with NT is probably due to the fact that NT has a hardware abstraction layer, and requires special code to access it. I don't think either HBDL or IC has this code. As far as the Win 3.1 goes, (...) (28 years ago, 15-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Ports on Windows NT

  Strange.....

Today I was at The Computer Museum, Boston, presenting The Handy Board, and non-commercial controlers called Crickets. The HB was working fine, but one time I turned it on.
