Can anyone tell me if it's possible to run more than one servo off the Handy Board? My design group and I are building a robot that will perform an autonomous search routine. We're in the rough developement stage and really trying to pin down just (...) (28 years ago, 7-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: I think I fried my board!!

keith-- you might have fried the motor ground to logic ground connection. a couple of times in my lab using 6.270 boards people shorted motor high to logic ground, with the result being a vaporized trace between the two grounds (the inductor was not (...)   Re: I think I fried my board!!

Yes it is probably the inductor. It acts as a fuse in many situations. You are lucky -- it could have been much worse. -Fred In your message you said: (...) (28 years ago, 7-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  HB - fast sensor reading

Hello, I have a clock signal of 5 kHz and an analog signal. (There are in total 128 clock pulses) I need to read in the analog signal every time the clock signal is high. So I need to read the clock signal with at least 10 kHz. I tried this with IC, (...) (28 years ago, 7-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Keith, We'd be happy to send you a new inductor to try out. Let us know how it works out. Best of luck! (...) - Prabal (28 years ago, 7-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

I think I fried my board!!

I need help figuring out what I did to my handyboard. I had it all assembled, tested, and working when one of the battery leads touched one of the solder spots on the board. A small puff of smoke rose from the board but I was able to disconnect the (...) (28 years ago, 7-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Rayovac Renewal batteries

Renewals are pretty cool -- they are "true" alkaline in the sense that they have the same voltage, discharge curve, and shelf life. The only bugaboo with them -- and it's a big one -- is that each *cell* must be individually charged. so you can't (...) (28 years ago, 5-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Rayovac Renewal batteries

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any info on the Rayovac Renewal batteries. According to the packaging, they're rechargable alkaline batteries. Sinch alkaline lasts longer that NiCd batteries, I was wondering if it would be good to use these (...) (28 years ago, 5-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Handyboard Parts

Well here I am again. I have gotten all my parts except the microprocessor (MC68HC11A1FN), the IR demodulator (IS1U60), and the 32K static CMOS RAM (62256-100LP). I have tried Jameco for the RAM but the Jameco part number 42833 doesn't seem to be (...) (28 years ago, 4-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Got V2X working...!

Recently I posted a request for help in interfacing the 68HC11 to the Vector 2X, and through the help of readers of these groups, thank you very much, I was able to get it running. It was quite persnickety, with many possible modes of operation, so (...) (28 years ago, 4-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: pcode downloading

(...) Yep, that checks out. (...) I get the correct voltages for the caps. And if the wrappers are on correctly they should all have the correct polarity. I ordered a replacement MAX232CPE (not the high speed "A" version). Hopefully this will either (...) (28 years ago, 3-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Coparison of Sensors

(...) I agree. You should only have a semi-colon after a while if you dont want that while to loop through any instructions. A semi-colon after a while tells the compiler that all you want to do is continuously test the while condition until it (...) (28 years ago, 3-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Coparison of Sensors

(...) Looks like you got too many semi-colons. Take out the semi-colons on all the while lines where you want the while to do the following thing. The process is getting to the "while(!start_button());" line and staying there. Also you have too many (...) (28 years ago, 3-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Config 0C / 0D

Hi, I know this is an old chestnut but believe me I have searched the mail archive and nothing quite matches what I'm seeing. I have a handyboard which I made and which seems to work perfectly. However, I have to download (using hbdl) with the (...) (28 years ago, 3-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: pcode downloading

(...) OK, well I think it is isolated at the pseudo-MAX232 chip. Did you get the +10 v power supply pin on the p-MAX ok? It's at pin 2. Measure it w/r/t ground and you should get +10v. Before you order a real Maxim, check the polarity of your (...) (28 years ago, 3-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: pcode downloading

Here is the relevant part of the test instructions: Finally, the MAX232's ability to transmit data to the host computer is tested. Again using pin 7 of J9 as a ground reference, measure the voltage at pin 3 of J9. This is the MAX232's serial output. (...) (28 years ago, 3-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
