A couple of months ago I worked with Philo on creating a complete set of LDraw parts for the HiTechnic sensors and multiplexers. OK, here comes another one! (2 URLs) This has a new (?) method of locomotion - it rolls along just by changing its shape. The wheels are fixed to the body and do not rotate. Have you investigated speeding it up by unlinking the 2 sorter levels, ie move the top level for the next ball while the bottom level is still positioned for the current ball? (...) You have to be careful here. The controller is designed to take AC or DC, but the input diodes that that convert the AC to DC are only rated for 1 Amp (1000 milliampres). (...) Hello, you can put AC or DC voltage at the input of the regulator with no problem as long as you don't put more than 9VAC~14VDC. The internal circuit will take both. (...) I think this is how you want to do it. A simple solution would be to go to Radio Shack, and buy a couple large ceramic resistors. (not sure the values you'd want, but something low). Our club lets kids run the controller for one of the lines when we do certain events (like, right now, with Detroit Festival of Trees), but we could use a way to forcibly limit the speed on the line that they're allowed to run.
